When do you predict the next Fractal Audio Axe iteration will drop, now that they've stated that it will be NAM-compatible?

That's a pretty fucking big thing though. If they get just that right, it will kill the component modeling market due to the time/cost factor alone. But there is also much more to be had in capturing effects and signal chains. The ability to bake a bunch of blocks down into a single capture, will open up options, especially on smaller/lower powered units.

That's a big if, considering that doing properly working parametric captures is likely to take a long time for anything with more than a few knobs like an overdrive pedal.

I'm also not convinced that capturing e.g time based effects will be a thing anytime soon...and the idea of "effects snapshot" for delays, reverbs etc is even less appealing.

I would be shocked if the AXE3, at least the turbo, wouldn't have enough horsepower to integrate it as is, under the either/or scenario cheaper units have.
Either use NAM or a amp model, not both. I'm probably wrong, but it would help them compete in a world where apparently NAM is supposely better than everything. (not my specific opinion, but it's out there)

NAM is software written for a general purpose computer, i.e. a CPU, while the Axe modelling runs on a DSP which is quite a different beast . It's kinda like saying that integrating a search bar into a book shouldn't be too hard because the book has enough pages. Well, not quite that extreme but still...

Iwith modeling being "table stakes" for Tonex and Kemper?

I hate the term. My uderstanding is that it is meant to apply to $1k+ device that are attempting to be an all-in-one unit - so it doesn't really apply to ToneX because (I don't think) they have anything really trying to be a "top tier all in one unit". I think most folks except for the die hard Kemper fans agree that Kemper is no longer at the same table as the other "flagship" modelers.

yes at the moment its only in Icons . none of the current hardware has the capability to do it

That is kind why I think the next gen will be sooner rather than later, because now you can Start to seem some limitations or constraints in the current lineup
