Pedals + ???? + board = :headbang

What's your preference?

I typically use dual lock, but I'm trying nano gel tape on my new board.

I went from standard velcro to dual lock, back to standard. I move things on and off boards and the dual lock was too strong.

It’s cool using the actual pedals as handles in case your board doesn’t have handles, but that 3M shit is too much. If I were touring regularly I’d go with 3M, but local gigging/pedalboard isn’t going into an 18-wheeler and wanting to swap pedals regularly, regular ole velcro works fine. The zip ties holding the cables down to more to keep the pedals in place than anything.

Just use less of it. I have no trouble taking my pedals off my board. I think there's also two grades of Dual Lock where one is stronger than the other.

My approach is to cut a square, put that square back onto the rest of the tape, cut another square using the previous one as a guide, then cut those squares in half diagonally. Now you have four triangles and that's good enough to hold your pedal on your board.

On my dual lock boards, I use 0.5 inch (~120 mm) squares in each corner for full size and larger pedals, and mini pedals get a square at the top and bottom. This gives excellent adhesion, but is also easier to remove by lifting at a corner of the pedal.

I like Dual Lock because it's strong, it has a low-profile, and it stays clean. But I hear you on its sometimes being too strong. (I've bent the baseplates on pedals because the DL just didn't want to let go.) The trick is to use the right tool when you remove a pedal, specifically, a plastic putty knife.

I hate dual lock. I think It’s completely overkill for pedals on boards. No matter how small a square is used on the pedal.

I bought a Morningstar ML5 on Reverb and the previous owner had covered the bottom with dual lock. I took it out of the box and sat it down on the board and it stuck so hard I bent the aluminum frame trying to get it off! I had to get a blade and chisel it off

I use the industrial-grade Velcro found at Home Depot or Lowe's. I recently bought a used PedalTrain; it showed up with the hook side of the Velcro on the board. I didn't know this needed to be said, but the hook goes on the pedal.
