It takes me a little while to get my hands feeling good, but after that, I can play for hours on end with no issues. So that's also a favorite part, since I'm almost 62. Yikes. What happened?

#1: Defenitely gigging. It's why I wanted to get into all of this. Not even for fame but simply because the idea of doing this very thing has always fascinated me. And it still is. Best musical moments in my life have been (and still are) those when I was on stage with a bunch of folks (ideally friends) and everyone's locking into a groove. An experience that can't be beaten for me. Playing 10 minute long funk tracks with the singers doing their thing while the band plays the same pattern (with very little variation) over and over again has got to be one of the best "transcending" (ugh, but yeah well...), hypnotic experiences ever.

getting in a room with people and making something from nothing.
playing shows is def fun and is the culmination of a lot of hard work and lots of other factors but im not sure it really beats the magic in that moment when a few people first really lock in to something that they all love.

Playing with other human beings is my favoruire thing about playing an instrument (wich happens to be guitar). Being immerese in the here and now of playing music with others can be a trascendental experience and that expirence is what I look foreword to live. It doesn't have to be a gig but playing in front of an audience adds somenthing special to it.
The sound of a les paul into a marshall amp, at the right volume, is my favourte thing about playing guitar.
Listening to music is my favourite thing in life and the joy that music gives me is the reason why I play. I don't play guitar because I love guitars (I do love guitars!) I play because I love music and I feel the need to partecipate in this incredible human activity.
Writing and recording my music has been one of my favourite activities since I was a teenager and has been the motivation for learning other insturments, gear and techniques and what I've learned in my basement since then is what made me a sound engineer.

3. Making my guitar sound like other instruments. Even though I have kind of fallen back quite a bit on this; I still have a great laugh in doing this. As well as the reactions it causes when people see it in action
I would LOVE to add creating original music back to this list at some point.

Very much a moving target for me.
Writing original material and live performance used to be top priorities for me; now I do almost none of either. (Well, I suppose I never did enough writing in the first place LOL.)
Like @JiveTurkey, I've always been into using improbable tech to make my guitar sound like something entirely different. Now (either because products aiming to do so are more mainstream, taking some of the sport out of it; or because years of trying have mostly highlighted the inevitable compromises; or both) I'm more inclined to focus on good old-fashioned guitar tones.
These days, I get a real kick out of learning covers. I never would have seen that coming, but the combination of ear-training and pushing myself out of my own stylistic habits is rewarding. I especially love the challenge of singing and playing at the same time. And like @sleewell, once I have some new stuff down, I enjoy getting together with some other folks and going loud with it. But the basement is perfectly fine for that. For now. :)

Yes.
The order of fave changes depending what stage of life I'm in. I'm not currently gigging, but part of me misses all the interactions playing with really cool musicians and then having a crowd enjoy themselves. It had its ups and downs, where you feel like a certain band is just going through the motions and not growing at all. I hated that part of it because it zapped my creative energy.
I've always enjoyed writing. Ever since I picked up a guitar I've come up with my own stuff. That's probably the most rewarding thing to me. Being able to play if for someone, live or recorded, makes it that much cooler.
Gear. I'm definitely more particular with certain specs of guitars than I used to be. I love modding and building stuff too. I go through phases where I focus more on those things than music, for better or worse. But it seems to balance out pretty well.

Spontaneous musicking with others in an unpredictable live setting, where we have a somewhat agreed upon foundation for the repertoire (e.g. jazz standards) and can be creative in the moment within that (i.e. jam sessions). IOW, play music for the fun of it.
It’s a bit of a challenge, given that open jam sessions can differ widely in terms of venue and participants. But there’s something, at least for me, appealing playing guitar in that framework, without worrying about catering to an audience or about making recordings.
