What happened to the Full-Drive 2?

I remember there was a time when everyone had an FD2 and it seemed like you never saw a pedalboard without one.

These days it seems to be forgotten. I can’t remember the last time I saw someone use one and used prices are crazy low.

Mr. Fuller made some greatly misunderstood comments on social media. I think talking about it would violate rules.

He fell out of favor due to that but the brand is now licensed to Jackson Ampworks.

However, that is the reason that everyone sold their Fulltone pedals. That’s why OP doesn’t see them anymore.

Did you read my other post?

He was widely hated among guitar circles long long before that incident. And the OCD has remained very popular. I don’t think that explains the disappearance of the FD2

Maybe everyone just moved on to a new flavor of the month for the TS style overdrive?

Yes, I did. However, that incident is the reason you don’t see them anymore. Go to TOP and post that you’re thinking of buying a couple Fulltone pedals and see what happens.

I believe the OCD is still widely accepted as an industry standard, even outside of geeky bedroom warrior spaceship-size pedalboards - whereas the FD2, although popular, stepped out of the limelight at some point, probably coinciding with the mentioned "incident", so yeah that might've been a catalyst to its supposed demise.

Back in the day the FD2 was the industry standard overdrive.

Maybe that market for boutique TS style ODs just got too saturated and people moved on to a new flavor of the month?

The OCD holds a slightly more unique position as a very amp-like drive so maybe that helped it survive?

Totally possible, I'd say - paired with the Fulltone "scenario", of course.

Especially with all the boutique dual-channel/stacking drives like the KOT, Protein, Gladio, etc.

I sold mine a long time ago. Found it to be bland and boring for my needs. Great build quality, though.

I sold my v2 OCD as well a long time ago too... same reason as above.

I do own his Custom Shop WahFul and it's the greatest Wah in the world.

And I ain't got no probs with the man.

And this cancel culture shit is for pussies who pee sitting down. :ROFLMAO:

Bland and boring compared to an SD-1 or a TS-9?

Its popularity was built on being the “better” sounding boutique SD/TS that was true bypass. It was one of the pedals that founded the boutique pedal market.

Interestingly, I have never owned a Tubescreamer of any flavor, and still don't.

And only recently have I gone down the SD-1 trail with an MXR Custom Badass Modified OD... after 38 or so years of playing! :ROFLMAO:

Yeah I remember the hype about the FD2 (the pedal, not the "we hate Fuller" stuff); IIRC that's why I bought one (early 2Ks IIRC).

It just didn't do anything for me - it seemed more like a clean boost than anything else.

Same with the OCD.

What I'd really like, drive-wise from his lineup, is his Custom Shop Ranger (multi-rangemaster).

Mod Drew-

I cleaned up a few posts in the beginning of this because that's exactly how threads turn into political debate stuff, even if that wasn't the intent of either poster and they exited the light back and forth like gentlemen. I just don't want someone else without the same capacity of containing themselves to pick up an ember later on.

I had one in the 00's and got it when I was jamming with some non-metal buddies, I really don't know why I sold it. That said, for how I used it, Lovepedal's Vintage Modern is a lot more up my alley.
