What artist makes you feel like you’re eating plain oatmeal?

I’d never even heard of the guy until the Super Bowl gig. And I’ll probably never hear much more about him in the future, either.
Which of course isn't an indication of anything at all.

The guy was the most streamed artist on Spotify way back in 2020 (then again in 2021, 2022, and 2025). I'm not into his stuff at all, but haven't we gotten past the "I didn't know it, so it didn't exist" stage?

I didn't say he didn't exist, merely that he's somebody that will never have any of my attention. And I don't say that in a derogatory way, because there are a lot of popular artists out there that share that status in my world.

Fair enough. I was seeing context of people claiming he's some sort of recent fabrication, but I understand now that you weren't joining in on that.

Not really the same. In the distant past, real talent could and would rise through the crap and the Monkees and similar producer creations were filler. Now its all corporate produced filler.

An awful lot of it definitely is. Things started going off the rails in the eighties with MTV, which led record companies to push image over ability. Then came autotune, and now the bulk of popular music is just mindless garbage aimed at the musically illiterate.
