I actually don't use the car that much because I work at home (my wife too) and we live in a small place therefore I can move kids around on foot most of the times.
I'd love to buy a nice crago bike but I have no reasons to.

This is what I'll perhaps move to one day. But a dude I know is just building a motorized bike trailer - which I think would be the better solution in case it works well (which I will see...). I don't plan to use any electric bikes for "normal" duties as long as I can, but a motorized trailer would be great for gigs and bigger shopping tours.
And fwiw, this is also going to be our last car. When it's done and doesn't easily get "TÜV" (you need to get their approval every 2 years) anymore, we'll switch to car sharing. We simply don't need a car often enough to justify owning one.
Hannover is pretty flat, so it's absolutely perfect for biking.

This is why I opted for a Tacoma instead of a giant truck, it’s about as big as I’d want a vehicle to be really. I like/need the truck bed for outdoor activities lol

2021 that I bought used in 2024. Bone stock, (it’s the turbo 4-cyl, if you’re going to soup it up, you might as well get a GT, and it goes 0-60 in like 5 seconds, it’s MORE than fast enough for me, and it gets great gas mileage).
I DID add a GT350 track pack spoiler to it, because I’m an 80’s kid so there’s two things I have to have: fog lamps and a spoiler

It's honestly gotten pricy over the past few years. Varies by zone, and then you have things like monthly tickets that cost less.
In the city I live in, it costs me 2.8€ for a single ticket valid for 1.5h. You can use it on the tram, bus, train as long as it's within the the specific zones you select before buying. The zones are a "the further away from downtown the more expensive the ticket" type deal but the ticket I mentioned is enough to take me from home to downtown (about 8km distance) so works for me.
I don't travel every day since I mostly work from home so that's another reason I don't need a car.

I've got a Honda CR-V and the wife has a Honda Odyssey minivan. We've got three kids and live in Minnesota where it snows 1/2 the year. Practicality wins out.
Shortly after graduating college and getting my first real job I made the mistake of buying an expensive car, a used BMW 3-series. Beautiful car that was so fun to drive and really luxurious (especially for a 22 year old). But it was a lemon, constantly needed repairs including a complete transmission failure, and just killed me financially. Besides the huge car payment I dropped about $5k on repairs over a couple years.
I eventually cut my losses and bought a Honda Civic which was boring and practical but extremely reliable. I had a 12 year stretch of not having a single car repair across all the Hondas and Toyotas we owned, and really the only repair I've had was when I needed some worn out suspension parts replaced on my CR-V a few years ago.
The minivan is awesome. Again, we have three kids and a dog so needed some space. Little kids have no concept of how to open doors without denting every other car in the parking lot. And if you take out the second row seats (takes only a couple minutes) and fold down the third row, you have tons of cargo space.
At some point I'd like to swap out my CR-V for something that has crazy high fuel economy like a Prius (had one of those for years until someone rear ended me and it got totaled), but I also just paid it off earlier this year and want to see how many miles I can get out of it. I'm almost at 90k and I'd like to get at least 3-4 years before trading in for something newer.

When I’m a good boy, Echo lets me sit in the front seat of his 2014 Jeep Compass.
He says it’s perfect for Florida city driving because it’s small but can still fit all my gear inside, he only wishes sometimes it were a V6 so he could get away from lunatic drivers faster, though he recently remembered the dual manual/auto transmission and has been utilizing the manual option more often specifically to dart away from idiots who refuse to acknowledge that we can drive 50 everywhere here.
