What Amp Are You Playing Today?

It’s a NAD for me: Fuchs ODS 30….and I love it.

In 4cm with a QC, fender supersonic “slaved” (Preamp of Fuchs, via QC into the return)

Observations
1..what a great amp the Fuchs is (Maybe it’s the honeymoon..but I don’t think so tbh)
2..I got captures of the preamp of another D clone in my kitchen sink….unbelievable how close they are to the Fuchs, and how great preamp captures compare to the real thing into the return
3..how preamps (digital or analog) into a return can transform an amp into a different beast. Preamp of the D clone into the SS works great.

I love the Supersonic 60. Such a versatile beast.

Despite an excursion in actively trying to trade this off recently I’m back to thinking it’s a keeper, especially since I’ve switched to committing to using crunch mode with a boost for brootz vs crush mode

My intention for tonight is to pull the Electra Dyne out and swap it with my EVH. No band practice until next week so I have some experimentation time, I want to try running the ED as a clean-ish pedal platform while using the FM9 for all the drives. Might be a good time to try using some amps as dirt pedals by disabling the cab/amp.

I don’t need the super tight aspects of the EVH for this band, boosted JCM800 territory will work just as well and might fill things out better.

This did not work out how I was hoping at all, not for the metal tone I’m going for. In comparison to plugging straight into the EVH it’s just not worth the tinkering. Got some great hard rock/lead tones, but I’d need a stiffer amp for the amount of chug I want. That amp doesn’t exactly gel with a Duncan Nazgul in drop C#.

Digging it a lot with the SD-1 as a boost, and even the dire wolf and its two very different sounds

Nazgûl kicks ass too.. had one in my old schecter suicide silence 7 string. Kind of want to put one of the new rail versions in the bridge of one of my guitars

Crunch (maxed out) + Boost all the way here as well. It just rips and also cleans up beautifully.

Top is a 50W 1969 Plexi (borrowing from a mate).
Bottom is a 100W 1979 2959 modded by Headfirst Amps.

Plexi sounds exactly as you'd expect. 100 watter is "evacuate the area" loud, in comparison to the '69.

Getting work done this morning tracking EP guitars.

LP -> Centura -> RE-202 -> Ceriatone 2204.

The bright cap is bypassed so the amp and Centura play nice. Tracking this way is a breath of fresh air, frankly. I’m finding the experience more inspiring and I barely have to put in work to get tones I like.

My usual modeling stuff is relegated to one off effects, otherwise I’m hooking up pedals. Kinda feels like being a teenager again.

It's a killer amp, but in no way an amp that can get into chug territory.

I also knew before I even plugged it in yesterday that I wouldn't be using it in the band; my back still isn't 100% and when I picked that thing up it said it all right there, "Nope. No fuckin' way are you carrying this amp around"
