What Amp Are You Playing Today?

Currently I've been using my Tone King Imperial Preamp running into a Fender FR-12 with a V2 Archangel preamp mod (switching to a V3 this week) but if I can get it together I want to try the FM9 into the Catalyst to see how it compares to the Fender.

I'm really liking the TKI Preamp but would gig with the FM9 instead of it just because I'd rather have it and not need it than the other way around.

Black and Gold baby...

Yesterday I plugged into my AC15c1 after about a year of exclusively playing my Helix through studio monitors, and all I can say is wow. I feel like I just sat down at an acoustic drum set after playing v-drums for a year. One thing I forgot is how dynamic and touch sensitive the real amp is. I was also surprised that I could get a great tone at a pretty low volume. The AC15 is so good for the clean to breakup range that I live in and the master volume works really well, I could get a great overdrive tone with my strat at a pretty reasonable bedroom volume, roll the volume back to clean it up, this is one amp that I really don’t even need any pedals for. The clean tone is warm and rich. The tremolo sounds great and the reverb is fine. It really made me rethink modeling. I know if I did helix > power amp > guitar speaker it would close the gap, but I almost can’t convince myself it’s worth the trouble when the amp sounds so good. If anything I may just use the helix for effects into the vox. I am a home player for the time being, if I were playing live there really would be no question about it, I’d play with an amp. But I’m starting to wonder if I need to practice with an amp more so that I can master and take advantage of the touch sensitivity. I feel like I am missing a lot of that with modeling.

I'm happily (Fractal) modelered to the goddamn hilt and I still know some dunce telling me his Ampero through his Yamaha THR is the same thing is completely delusional.

Yes; there is the tube amp oldhead equivalent of this but it's not near as prevalent as some dolt trying desperately to convince himself that he's ran the breadth of gear gauntlet and is qualified to dictate other's experiences

I must have missed something!

This is such a sick Mesa wall.
I've got my eyes on an actual Mesa cab to replace the glorified amp stands under the V. I'd like to grab some Mesa 112s for the mini stack as well. And I'm still low key searching for a headshell.

Running the III and as a preamp into the Rectifier in dual mono (?) yesterday was just something else :chef :chef :chef

I'm going to see if i have a few more cables today and go true stereo and probably end up soiling myself:LOL:

EDIT: This was AI’s best attempt. Apparently there are restrictions around generating images of Mesa branded adult diapers because diapers are considered medical equipment. I’m probably gonna end up in alligator Alcatraz now.

Oh baby jesus.

Gtr----pedalboard
Wah, NS2---Phaser, Flanger, Dirts, MXR stereo chorus----Rectifier in, Mk III in
Mk III send---NS2---TC Chorus---SDE3 In A
Rectifier send---SDE3 In B
SDE3 Out A---Mk III return
SDE3 Out B---Rectifier return

I cannot express the level of holy fuck that this combination gives me :satan:satan:satan:satan:satan I am not even spreading the stereo effects out all that much. I'm really going to have to do a Men In Black memory wipe to make the modeling rig trip my trigger this coming weekend :LOL:

Mixing things up today. My Simul 2:90 needs service, so I’m using the SD18 as a power amp. Quickly I’m reminded how many different individual sounds and textures you pull out of this preamp. It can be made to sound amazing or terrible with literally any chain.

I need to get my 2:90 serviced, and I need a rectifier 2x12 in a bad way.
