What Amp Are You Playing Today?

Epic!! Would love to hear it!!

I think the VH4 mode of the dragon on the vid that @CorrosiveMatter shared was my favorite sounding on that amp

I almost wish I had gotten a different flavor from crab since I already have 3 actual marks, but the Marcus is definitely awesome lol
I love it for rhythm myself. If I had known he did custom options on the Dragon I wouldn't have gotten the Mark channel and might have gotten something with kind of an edge of breakup tone instead of the Twin channel. They are nice, but I have a JP2C and a C+, so no need for another Mark (sacrilege, I know). The Mark channel is fine, but I tend to add the 5 band EQ with the Axe-FX to do what I want with that one, Heck, I EQ the other channels with the Axe-FX too, just because I can.

Might do a snippet after drums and bass are added and share it here. I'm sure I'll end up rearranging the guitars after it's done so that the sound evolves a bit between the amps. I sent to our other vocalist to see if she is capable of writing something evil sounding. We are starting to do more of a male/female Alice In Chains harmonies on my originals.

Giving this beast some love…

This amp is just SO fun to play!!!

In D#, can go from crunchy GNR tone on the Orange channel with gain around noon and tube rectification, to death metal Cannibal Corpse tone on the Red channel with gain around 2:30 and diode rectification. It’s a fucking blast!!!

Today was mostly Mk IIC+ day in the studio. I found out last weekend that the vocalist I moved to California with in our band, Black Dove, had been broadsided on his Harley by a guy in an old beat up car doing 90 on a street near where he lived. It happened back in November of 2023.

Even though we had long since lost touch, back in the 80s he was one of my best friends. I decided to pull up a few tracks from what is probably the first song we wrote together back in 1984 or 85 and record it as a tribute to my old friend. The song is called Blues Horse and is something of a biker ballad anthem type of tune. I put down 5 tracks of guitars, 2 clean, 2 crunch, and 1 solo track with an intro solo and another in the middle. The only other amp used was my JP2C for one of the clean tracks.

The intro solo I used the clean channel of the IIC+ with the gain maxed and pushed with a compressor. I also did an inverted V on the EQ to make it really thick and soulful. May be the best edge of breakup tone I've ever put down in the studio. The main solo I used the dirty channel with more of the sound you would expect from a Mk IIC+, but maybe a bit more mids than I would ordinarily use, and less gain than I usually use on that channel.

I'll be working on this one for a bit and still need to get my bass player and drummer to learn it and record their parts, but I plan on releasing it as a tribute to an old friend that passed too soon.

Still jamming the Twin Jet today. This thing is awesome. I don't know what it is lately, but Bogner amps just seems to be consistently amazing for me. I've owned all of them before and didn't feel the same, but man are they good to my ears now. Especially shocked that I like it so much considering I generally do not like KT88s. I really want to try the Uber Ultra now, friend of mine just got one so I kinda wanna see if I can try it for a bit against my TJ.

Was planning on rolling my new f100 tonight but the prospect of hauling it into my drummers basement wore me out even thinking about it

Grabbed the mark III instead

Hot damn it sounded phenomenal… bkth in the room and thru in ears. Haven’t plugged into this guy in a minute and surely think some knobs must’ve been twisted in the mean time but I didn’t even check. Just sounded epic :love

At home, it's usually the old Pod 2.0, lol! But I just had to fire up my Syn30 with a Plexi module. That one is so hard to walk away from. I literally had to pry myself away after several hours....

This one is coming to this afternoons jazz gig. However…modded with an Alnico gold…and a powerampinput.
My QC is going straight into the powersection, as well as into the return of the “house amp” (egnater rebel).
These will be amping captures of the preamp of my fav D style amp.
