Wow how Cool is that, Besides modeling different pickups, guitars and acoustics, the alternate tunings is really awesome
No clickbait or Shill below, just a Demo of alternate tunings

I’ve had an interest in the Variax stuff for a while, I can imagine that’d be really handy to have in the studio.
Live as well id Imagine
Im thinking Holy wars can go from Heavy Riffing to a Sitar and back to to a Riff with a turn of a Knob ...
Or from a Single Coil to a 12/6 string and back

yes that would be a drawback but L6 has great customer service, and i dont play live so its not mission critical
That’s not my experience. Line 6 are good up to the point where they say the unit is no longer supported then you are in trouble. They also pull support way to early. These are full of non standard parts that you just won’t be able to get.

YEs its def not off the shelf Parts bin .. and it is a risk (y)

I've always like the concept of the Variax, and it would come in handy for those who cover a looottttt of territory in a live show. Bringing less gear is always a plus. If you have a lot of guitars already then may not make as much sense for recording unless you just want to downsize and/or speed up the tracking process somewhat. There are some tradeoffs I'd imagine.

I’ve had mine pretty much since they were released and I still love it. Far and away it is the guitar I play the most and when you pair it with the Helix, it’s absolutely ridiculous what you can do and control with that combo. Overall I’ve found the digital down tuning to be quite usable and the only time I can start to hear artifacts is when you get more into the harmonics.

The only issue I’ve had is the 27” scale and my little girl hands. Coming from a Les Paul primarily, some of the stretches I was accustomed to were just not doable for me. Here is a track a did a few years ago for one of the Drumception contests for Toontrack.

If I remember correctly one guitar was my Shuriken in Virtual Dropped C and the other was my Les Paul.

Andy knows. :beer

My buddy has 2 of the Variaxes and he can't get Line 6 to help him with fixing some issues
with one of them. No parts. No service. No functioning guitar.

I also think they sound a bit off in person. But that's me. You give up something to get something
else.

GAS Deflated, While sounds Nice but you Know it $2,000.00 CDN
Think ill stick to Original plan
Solar for for Drop D and C
and some maybe used cheap 7 String For Drop A stuff will be cheaper and well more is gooder

thanks all for chiming in

This plan is best.

At least from my experience, that seems to be true.

As far as their Variaxes are concerned, they seem to be introducing quite some latency.
If I wanted something similar, I'd go Boss/Roland and get a GK pickup and perhaps an SY-1000.
Sure, it's nice to have it all straight in the guitar, but Roland has at least somewhat established a kind of standard, which is worth a lot once you need things to be fixed.
