Valeton GP-5

We can continue with the passive aggressiveness if you like.

Tried through headphone - surprisingly good
Tried through my Mac as interface - love it
Tried through FR-10 - freaking love it, some more so than top tier ones
Ditch the preset immediately and build your own form scratch - phone editing is super easy and fun
Stock preset is absolute beehive fest though

Amps are hit and miss but good ones are very decent.

Would buy another if this one dies.
This is a bargain of the century, very happy with it

I absolutely love my 2 x GP5s I now have on my board, but the one thing I wish they would change is the ability to boot up in the disengaged mode when using the CTL footswitch mode. I use one for adding effects and the other as a fixed boost. It's annoying to have to boot up my board and then click on both to disengage them. If they could remember their last state when turned off and back on that would be great! Also, I'm controlling the one used for effects with midi commands and when I scroll to another preset it automatically turns on. Similar to the other request, I'd prefer to be able to scroll from one preset to another while disengaged and then be able to turn it on and off from the footswitch.

Fwiw, when you switch delays on/off within a patch, is there trail spillover? And how fast is patch switching in general?
I could actually consider one of these as an ultra compact super emergency backup. Hook up an Mwave Chocolate and you're set.

Ah, over 5 ms is too much for putting it in the stomp loop I think, too bad.

Has been my thought, too. Would result in something a bit below 9ms in total. Add some older IEM systems and you might end up with 12ms or so. This is where, while servicable, I defenitely start to not enjoy things much anymore.

Reverb and Delay do have a trail setting each. They work in the current preset only though.

Patch switching is super fast, like I don't hear a gap at all, just switch.

Got my Stereo break out cables came in, PXM's in stereo sound great.

I got it to be a headphone solution on the couch so that was just to test but it's so strange to see this tiny thing sound like that.

Loaded in a bunch of IR's and a few NAM profiles.

I play just simple metal, gate>boost>amp>cab maybe light reverb. The high gain amps all sound good with minimal tweaking. I messed with a few clean presets just to see with my JP6 on the Piezo's and they sounded good to me.

No clue on the pushed/driven cleans, not my thing so someone else will need to put their 2 cent in.

Perfect for headphones on the couch for me.

As I mentioned above, I gave one GP-5 to a friend. The second GP-5 arrived today. I connected it to the FR-12s just to get things up and running before I dig in more tomorrow.

I've never used a NAM profile so I went on Tone3000 and grabbed a few. I tried to load one and I got an error saying it wasn't a valid NAM file. I thought I was doing something wrong but I loaded up a different one and it worked fine. Then I saw the first one I tried is a .wav and the second is a .nam. The .nam worked fine. One thing I noticed, and a video review noted this as well, is that loading a NAM profile results in relatively low volume. At least it did with that one. I'll look at that a little more tomorrow.
