Hi Y'all, I'm new here, just came because there are a lot of Valeton users on here and I don't see a forum from them.
My typical rig is a multi-fx unit on the floor that changes my amp channels/midi programs in my rack gear or my amp head(s) via 4 cable method. It works for me.
I grabbed an Ampero II Stage and ended up loving/hating it. Sold it. Bought a Valeton GP-5 because, why not? It's cheap and powerful. It worked out great in the FX loop of my amp, but yeah, I had to use an external midi pedal to switch patches - not ideal.
So, since the GP-5 was actually quite good, I picked up a GP-200. The descriptions all tout "midi capability" but let me tell you, it's limited. With every other multi-FX I have and every other 'midi compatible' pedal, you get a program change (PC) with each patch selection via the MIDI OUT port. Not with the GP-200. (wth?)
It will accept a PC from an external midi pedal to the MIDI-IN and will pass that along via the MIDI-OUT. Again, what is the reasoning behind this?
So, now it's kinda my 'modeler' and it's great, but I hate having another midi pedal plugged into it just to change the programs on my external gear.
End of rant, nice to meet you
haha
