Ty Tabor

A friend of mine has played with Ty a few times and says he never heard Ty play a bad note. And my friend is no slouch himself.

I've seen Kings X a few times, and even though Ty used different rigs just about every time his tone has always been consistent - when you hear it, you know it's him.

Ty Tabor is top five, for me. Both in terms of playing and tone. Whether it's the Recto sounds, the Lab sounds, or even the POD Pro into 2:90 sounds, he's always got it, with soul and vibe to spare.

Love King's X + Ty, especially everything up to and including Dogman. I've seen them live twice, first on the Dogman tour and then again about 10-15 years later, both in small clubs with a small audience. I bought Out Of The Silent Planet and Gretchen in high school and been a fan ever since, but it also makes sense to me they've never had widespread appeal.

There's a lot of great stuff on their self-titled album, the one before the big switch in sound on Dogman, and their last with Sam Taylor, I believe. Lost In Germany is a top-three fave of theirs, for me. Also love Ooh Song.
