I think they asked Gary Moore 1st, but he turned it down. I don't think that would've worked though. Oh, but I do remember the guy who did get the gig wasn't a great fit either.

How does the label jump in like that, and hire the replacement w/o discussing it with the band? I mean, it sounds like they didn't, since they'd already paid him an advance. I just don't get that.

The scene would have been vastly different; Ozzfest brought us a shitload of bands that wouldn’t have made it out of their region had it not been for Ozzfest. There were bands not even managed by Sharon who were thanking her in album credits just for that, but she’s also been known to give younger bands business advice while they were out on Ozzfest.
