Going to see "Sabbath" this weekend.

So Zakk show was LOUD AF, just as described :LOL:

Iron Maidens were great. Great guitars and drums, vocals and bass were solid. Both of those positions are hard to fill but they did good.

Zeppelin cover band (Zoso) was good but Get the Led Out was definitely better when we saw them a few months ago. Good raw energy though.

Zakk was great. Excellent frontman and nailed Ozzy if he was tuned low (B standard?). Killer playing (duh) and great band. Set was a little draggy at parts with some same sounding song choices mid set.

Only true negative for me were his guitar tones. Dude needs his chorus pedals destroyed. I am now in the firm "No chorus on distorted guitars" camp. Also; ditch the EMGs and get some dynamics in the tone for God's sake. Very flat, plastic and distant sounding imo. He definitely has a bag of tricks based on his tone and it obviously works for him so wtf do I know?

That quibble aside; great show. It was packed so I know the venue did well. I'd love for this trio to go all in and do something doom/stoner and draw from that Sabbath inspiration and explore outside the BLS zone.

1000%. Not bitching about anything else. Great player and singer for the gig. But that tone gotta go :nails:LOL: Curious to see what he's doing at Pantera in May.

It'll be pretty much the same without as much chorus. It's all he's done since he got BLS going/got sig MXR/Dunlop pedals and ditched the SD-1, unfortunately. That was my only real gripe with the Pantera thing, it's just that tone with a noise gate and Whammy pedal on occasion. It didn't sound terrible when I saw them in an arena, but man that tone wasn't jiving in a stadium. Too much distortion and you could tell FOH was trying to figure out how to get it sitting in the mix. The lower tunings weren't helping, either.

Agree completely on FOH trying to 'place' the guitar. It had a weird out of phase thing going where it didn't blend with the bass and drums which sounded phenomenal. I'll still like the Pantera thing I'm sure but it wasn't doing any sonic favors imo.
