Your set up looks fine . You must be hitting it very hard. One thing; your intonation is out.

It’s got a compensated nut.

Yeah, starting out on acoustic with 1/2” action made me a bit heavy handed. Tone-wise I like to dig in hard sometimes and that’s when this becomes a problem

The ESP arming adjuster gives it a back stop . Steve Vai used the long gone Ibanez one which was like two.

This is the esp but there are dom very good copies that are basically identical and cost very little. Definitely worth a try.

As far as resonating springs go: Foam, as suggested, does help indeed, but there's springs that don't resonate, too. I have a bunch of them from Harley Benton and they just work. No more foam.

And well, regarding "flutter", the only way to get rid of it and get the same kinda attack impact with floating vibrato systems is to pick lighter. Pretty much no way around it.
There seem to be systems more sensible to fluttering than others, though. After decades (I'm a sucker for free floating vibratos), my personal favourite remains to be the Wilkinson VS100.

This may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it is really special to me. Here’s the story behind this one:

My beloved local theater shut down earlier this year after 47 years; it was heartbreaking for all of us. I got a call from the owner saying after selling everything off they wanted to give everyone who worked there one last bonus check as a thank you.

As soon as I heard that I thought it would be so cool to use the money from my last check to build a guitar to keep as a memento of the theater and my time working there. Taking the money made from selling the last parts of the theater...

This Jem actually had something like that in it when I bought it, but it just killed the expressivity of the bridge overall. I pulled it out when I did my initial set up. I also have one of these SuperVee MagLok's kicking around, but again, it'll reduce warble and allow for bending double stops... at the cost of giving the trem a weird little dead spot.

I guess it's always going to be a trade-off. But generally when I float a bridge, I want everything nice and smooth through that center point.

What's weird is, I've always considered myself to have a very light right hand technique - to a fault. Maybe that's less true when I'm picking partially palm muted figures on lower strings.

I have the SuperVee Maglok installed in both of my Strats. It's a super easy install and works great for eliminating detune when bending double stops. It is not strong enough to prevent detune after string breakage or drop tuning.

I put a piece of cardboard or packing foam in the springs to help. But i noticed that when i replaced the springs with those that came with my Callaham kit, they no longer ring with a B flat.

I put one of those Hipshot tremsetters on my hipshot headless trem

Kind of a pain in the ass to install but it does help with this issue a bit


That MagLock thing seems like a more elegant version tbh
