Not sure I agree with all of this but lots is interesting none the less. Sort of overlooks the broadcast/large infrastructure parts of the industry. Also I think UAD would have been interesting to explore as their business model has changed TONS over the last 10 years or so. Likewise Audiotonix have been scooping up brands a lot recently:

its a crazy time to be a musician. 20 bucks on distrokid and you can release anything to the major platforms. its not even like a fire hose of music being released each day its like many many multiples of that or more.

different challenges. i am sure in the past it was tough to get in with a good label and to get time in good studios. now it just seems impossible to get anyone to listen or get noticed just due to the huge amount of new music coming out every second.
