The Tele(phone) Is Ringing! Happy 75th Birthday Old Friend

They've been my favorite guitars lately, and close to perfect, tbh.

Fwiw, my black '96 tele is a 50th anniversary. Not of the tele model, but Fender brand.

You continue to surprise and shock me, Met.

:hugitout

Does @JiveTurkey still have that Tele you had, once upon a time?

Haha, I am also surprised and shocked. They’ve always been my favorite. I think I’ve told the story before about how that’s what I wanted when I went to buy my Strat as a kid.

I couldn’t even really tell you why I sold that gold one, I guess I felt like I needed a change.

I’ll have another one eventually, when it’s the right time

Anybody played both a '51 Tele and a '52. Obviously, Reissues?

@EOengineer , perhaps? Didn't you just Tele shop/purchase recently.

Anyone else? Curious about differences/similarities.

Thanks! :beer

I have an AV52 and an AO 60s tele. I’ve not played the 51. TBH I think it’s a fairly minor spec difference. You’re still getting a fat necked 50s tele with an ash body, maple neck, and vintage radius/bridge. They both do the thing.

That's what AI keeps telling me. :knit

:cheers

I trust hands on/real world experience a bit more, though...... even if AI is supposedly a
amalgamation of hands on experience and unfounded conjecture.

Guessing I can't go wrong with either.

Yes and original ones to.
TBH in both cases it’s down to individual instruments. Older reissues tend to be more like whatever the fashionable neck profile was than accuracy. I think newer versions are usually better.
The new vintage 2 is a good as they have ever been. The neck is big without being clumsy.

For whatever reason; there has been a recurring 75th anni Tele commercial playing through all my recent round of show binges. I have one tele as is but I don't know if the world is trying to tell me to get another or what
