Already startedMy concern with AI has very little to do with AI itself and everything to do with our species tendency to immediately weaponize any technological breakthrough into a tool of mass enshitifification.

This is also my biggest concern philosophically… that I always think about. There are good people… most people are sane and good and blabla… but the “mass”… the meat soup or whatever we can call it… is insanely stupid. My concern with AI has very little to do with AI itself and everything to do with our species tendency to immediately weaponize any technological breakthrough into a tool of mass enshitifification.
Cities aren’t for everyone, but if you look at a population density map it’s clear they are for MORE or even MOST people. In fact, at least by the numbers in the US, 80% of our population resides in urban zones, with only 20% of folks comprising the entire remaining land mass of the country. Honestly a pretty wild stat to consider. This is also my biggest concern philosophically… that I always think about. One of the worst things I know is the big society mass behaviors. We weren’t meant to become million people cities. It’s not in our nature. We are group animals. Small groups.
Dogs are probably the best example of this. About once a day I look at one of my dogs complaining about not having a blanket on them for their nap and mutter “you used to be a wolf”…Side note….
An interesting comparison would be the natural domestication triggers that happen.

BREAKING NEWS:
Philosophy degrees now rated #1 asset for AI world jobs market putting holders in the top 99% of earners!
A lot of stuff coming out that people are working slower with AI, because it's requiring a lot of second guessing/checking work. That'll improve over time. But mandates like "you need to use AI 20% of the time, otherwise you won't be eligible for promotion" is horseshit.AI - allowing middle management to do twice as many tasks 15% as well in the same amount of time! Just watched a webinar today that was obviously written by AI and the presenter didn’t even bother to check the math on the charts, which was obviously waaaaay off if you’ve ever looked at numbers before.
I agree. I use Gemini as just a faster search engine (that I still have to vet, because it's often still wrong). But as funny as a Wookiee in a paisley suit playing a guitar is, I'm not in favor of it for creative stuff. And definitely not in favor of The Matrix/Terminator stuff.I don’t think I’ve ever felt so split on something before; I use ChatGPT nonstop now at work and I’m essentially using it to provide the training I never actually got for a Chief Engineer position. The other side of me, when it’s being used for creative endeavors, can’t stop dry heaving thinking about it.
Obviously different use case, but I have yet to use any of the AI available to us that has been faster than just doing a search and parsing the results myself, and I have to double check everything anyways because it’s mixing up data or terms at least half the time. I will openly mock people in person using it for creative endeavors.I don’t think I’ve ever felt so split on something before; I use ChatGPT nonstop now at work and I’m essentially using it to provide the training I never actually got for a Chief Engineer position. I’d prefer the Matrix/Terminator stuff over Suno.I agree. I use Gemini as just a faster search engine (that I still have to vet, because it's often still wrong). I'd happily be plugged into the 90's permanently.I’d prefer the Matrix/Terminator stuff over Suno.
That is interesting because this link is what started me using AI for my singles/album artwork:I don’t think I’ve ever felt so split on something before; I use ChatGPT nonstop now at work and I’m essentially using it to provide the training I never actually got for a Chief Engineer position. You have obviously not viewed my crayon works series ;~))Don’t. Hand drawing in crayon is 1000x cooler than “hey, let me have some tool-looking artwork please computer.”
I’d rather see that than generative AI artwork, even if it sucks. You have obviously not viewed my crayon works series ;~))
