seems like the whole point of this hobby is to like it... not to compare shit. i mean... if its useful. otherwise youre just looking for reasons to buy more stuff or justify having spent too much on it already.
Most of the time, the people who are most obnoxious about this stuff are the ones who hate modeling to begin with, and will grasp at anything within reach to validate their opinions. Doesn’t sound exactly like a tube amp, doesn’t respond exactly like a tube amp, doesn’t feel exactly like a tube amp, latency, disposable crap that you can’t repair, etc.

yeah likely so. im not even a modeling guy, and i sure dont think it matters. i think the SOUND of stuff is at a pretty refined state of affairs, its the feel aspect thats still catching up, but even still, if you want to carry a 20# rig with 1400 amp sounds... mmrrrm..... theres gonna be a coupla compromises. whys this contentious?

But this time there is a subtle twist!! I used a modeler and cab with a modeling mic vs a modeler with a cab and a real SM57 and a tube amp with a load box and an IR and what? You STILL don’t give a shit?!? I love the feedback!! But put it in the YouTube comments because here doesn’t count.

idgaf about anyone’s dumb YT clip. I go with my gut of what sounds and feels good to -me- 100% of the time
Just wrapped up tracking an EP. Tons of gear used and many methods tried. No fucking clue listening back as to which panned tracks were which guitar and which amps. But I will say A/Bing reamped shit with real mics in a ghetto setup trounced IR attempts. Sorry not sorry
Bottom line play what you like and everyone on any side of the “aisle l” stop being such insufferable dweebs

Blind tests seldom prove that you can make low end gear sound as good as high end, but rather that you can make high end gear sound as bad as low end, which is not really a surprise if the gear got more than a single control for the masses to mess with.
