The NDSP Nano Cortex…

There's a few examples of expression control here; at 14:45 (wah auto engage) & 33:30 (controlling multiple parameters)

What a great video @2112 ! Great sounds with the Marshall captures. It’s really sweet that these are offered up for free for us.

Totally agree that adding plate reverb would be a killer addition to the next update. Hopefully they are listening to your suggestions

I think you just solidified my next device to acquire. Thanks!

Well, I’m on the road to my first Neural product. I’m getting the Nano and am currently shopping a deal. I was able to return a few items that didn’t work out and right or wrong I’m figuring that recouped money as taking off the total cost of the Nano. Cheating a bit but the returns were additionally motivated by eyeing the Nano. So with that twisted TGF logic, I’m down to right at $300 out of pocket before any discounts or mint used finds.

NGD is coming soon! One of the first things I’m going to do is load @2112’s JMP capture played and mentioned in the video above. It’s a gorgeous tone I could definitely enjoy digging in to.

I know it’s not highly celebrated here as a product but going in with the v2.0 update will make my initial experience more positive than the early adopters. Woot!

The Nano is pretty sweet after that big 2.0.0 update. I long decided i can't bother with profiling/capturing - but if i did, that's the device i'd get.

Still wish it had a small screen or something, i'm still not a big fan of phones for UI.

Yes sir, a screen would have been nice for sure!

It’s a great product since 2.0 and dare I say better handled than the flagship QC at the moment not much missing since 2.0

I think Leon’s two suggestion for the next revision that I really liked were adding a Plate reverb (I love Plates!) and the ability to place the phaser before the amp. I’m not a huge phaser user at all but it would be nice. Even without any major updates, it sounds fairly solid to me.

It may not work out and I’m fine with that. But I will at least have tried it.

You will probably have a lot of fun with it.

I was just playing the Nano this evening after having not played it for about a month or more, so I came to it with fresh ears. This evening has been a blast!

As with all capture devices, it can be a bit of a pain in the ass finding the capture that does it for you, (just like the IR rabbit hole), but when you finally find the right capture... Ohohohoh!

Also: setting the input level is crucial, and that's effectively done via the "GAIN" knob.

Tonight's capture was the Amalgam Audio Sound City 100 1967, Channel I Crunch BAL CAB.

i.e. an Amp + Cab capture, rather than DI capture + IR.

That sounds awesome and I’m glad you had a blast! That’s really what it’s all about man.

Thanks for the tip on the input. I’m guessing the Sound City 100 1967 is a SuperLead variant? If so, that’s right up my alley so thanks for that too.

I know what it means but I’m not too clear on what your last sentence is clarifying. I hope to test use the Nano both in to my Yamaha headphones and also in to my current test bed reference amp. That a TM Super Reverb loaded with 4x10 CB’s. Which would go where most effectively when looking at Amp+Cab capture versus DI+II capture. Maybe DI minus the IR in to the Super? Amp+Cab in to the headphones?

That’s my guess anyway but I’ve been wrong before! Well, at least I thought I was… turns out I was mistaken.

😉

have you done any research into captures before you bought this thing? At least with ToneX or NDSP, a capture can be any combination of drive + amp + cab.

Yeah. Apparently it's used on Axis Bold as Love.

It's just that captures usually come in one of 2 forms:

  1. Those that are made by taking a DI signal from the amp (usually with a load box, or loadbox and speaker). So you have to use this with an IR (in the Nano itself) or else via a power amp + cab.
  2. Amps that are captured by micing up the cab that the amp is attached to. No IR is needed.

So this evening, I was playing through an Amp + Cab capture into my studio monitors. No IR was required.

This version would not be the one to send into your Super Reverb. You'd want a DI capture for that. Although, to be honest, piping the output of the Nano into a real amp isn't really it's primary use case, unless it's a clean power amp. Or perhaps I've misunderstood what you're saying?

Thanks for all of that @jellodog ! Yes, my studio monitors and other gear aren’t here with me at my current location (a little shack outside La Grange) so I use headphones as a reference for now and the Super while using no cab or IR blocks. It isn’t ideal but I’m working with what I’ve got. Few laptops too.

Much appreciated Sir!

Ah, well now that you've made me shack-aware; that makes sense! 🙂

Yeah this is very tempting. Then again, Leon makes everything sound killer! @2112 did you use the Nano to do the captures?

EDIT

Never mind, caught that you did it with the QC.
