The high of playing a really good show

Like beyond sex and maybe the first few times doing the drugs i dont do is there a much better high than just locking in with your homies and getting a crowd of people moving to your live show??


First time using my akai last night to trigger our samples which was awesome and just in general we all played good. People were moshing every song. It was a lot a lot a lot of fun. Still kinda riding that wave to be honest.

It was a little hairy setting up but I actually handled ok it which was encouraging. The akai wasn't passing signal at first which is strange bc it's been pretty good at home and rehearsals. I checked all the cables and connections and that didn't fix it. Had to go to a different track within the project and then go back to the one I needed to get it to work but it was a little stressful for a few seconds lol. Got a desk stand for it to it sits pretty good on top of my amp which is nice in small stages. I recorded some of the noise stuff using that soma lyra drone thing I got a while back and then loaded them on the akai. Seemed to go over pretty well and fit our songs.


But yeah other than maybe hearing a song you wrote make it big (which I havent gotten anywhere close on yet hahaha) what else in music is better than playing a really good show??? Or even what compares to it in other hobbies you have??

Clearly: No.
It's the very reason for me to make music. And it rarely was about attracting women or being the great mutha making it big on a stage, but rather the combination of you doing your thing and people enjoying it, yourself and your bandmates very obviously included.

Fuck yeah!!! Congrats!!!

I was 17 the first time I felt that rush, a party on a farm up in Maine where 300-400 people ripped through 26 kegs over a few hours and turned this dude's dirt driveway into a giant dust cloud moshing. I'll always chuckle at this aspect- we played one set as mostly a soundcheck because not many people were there, we take a 30 minute break and get back onstage, first song is Blink182's "Damnit". I remember playing the intro and seeing people coming towards the stage, when the whole band kicked in it was just a cloud of dust with arms and legs poking out. So, thank you, Blink182. Got the total rockstar treatment that night and I was hooked.

Had a good number of times it occurred with my original band a few years later and it was a bit more thrilling then because it was original music and we had actual fans that new the songs, but I wouldn't have had the motivation to push that band that hard had it not been for that first show.

I have a similar feeling when writing something I'm really stoked about, but it doesn't come with the same adrenaline factor and it's much more personal, opposed to having your bros in the band all on that same high.
