The Gibson & their copies picture show

My one and only Gibson-style at the moment is my IBG Epiphone ES-335. Can't quite afford a Gibby on a meager teachers salary.

There’s nothing wrong with that guitar.Gibsons are overrated .
I’ve heard loads of Gibsons up against cheaper well made guitars that sound better.👌🍺
Here’s a 2023 shot of my sons Harley Benton with push pull buckers and Hartwood with Bigsby and my Larry Carlton.
All amazing value for money great sounding guitars 👌

I played this one as well as a handful of other Epiphone 335s and some Sire copies back to back with a $5500 Gibson and this one was the closest to the Gibson in resonance and acoustic loudness. The frets aren't the best, tuning isn't always stable and the electronics are a little scratchy but the sound and neck feel are amazing. I wanted a red one too
:rofl

Sometimes the guitar picks you.

True the guitar picks you every time you get to run your hand up and down its neck a few times .
That’s the problem many people have these days with no shops / stores near them so have to buy online .

My Alpine White Custom spoke to me. I was at the Gibson Garage in Nashville. Played about 8 or so guitars. Kept coming back to that one. Didn’t buy it. Couldn’t stop thinking about it. Went back the next day to buy it. Had them ship it home to me. Feels and plays like a dream.

What make is it ?

Gibson

Thats very true. So many times in the past I’ve walked into a shop planning to buy one guitar, and ended up leaving with a completely different guitar I never expected because it was the one that spoke to me

Fenix LP Custom. It's an interesting mix of LP Custom and Standard styles with the 3 layer binding on body and headstock, but trapezoid inlays, flame maple top and rosewood fretboard. The top is a full blown flame maple top and not a veneer! I bought this guitar super cheap used because it's a very unknown brand. Came in set neck and bolt-on versions, mine's a set neck. Made in South Korea, 1990s.

I've put plenty of work making it to my liking. The original electronics were a pile of crap, so I installed Mastertone active pickups on it. The stock hardware was good: Gotoh bridge, tailpiece and tuners. Leveled the frets, replaced the nut.
