Asparagus is a veg I really came around on over the gears… love them crispy tips with a proper seasoning :love

I swear my mom must’ve just boiled them or something when I was a kid

Yeah, not great boiled. Steamed they're nice if they still have a little crunch and some lemon juice

Best for me is sauteed in a little butter and black pepper then hit with lemon when serving 😋

Just finished a birthday cake for my kid for tomorrow. He's hardcore into dinosaurs and the Mososaurus is his favourite.

Lunch today at the far and away best bbq spot in CO

Chopped brisket sandwhich, pork belly, and the most insane Mac n cheese (aside from the mad concoctions I’ve made myself)

View attachment 49327

This spot also offers two vegan options, jack fruit and a rotating mushroom (99% of the time it’s lions main)

I just love mushrooms in general but their bbq lions mane is just insane. Honestly a bit more of an intense flavor profile compared to the meats

People always dog on CO bbq (which I get) but I have a handful of places I love. Pit fiend and a handful of other choice favorites of mine easily live up to bbq I’ve had in Texas, KC, OK, and SC :idk

No disrespect to TX but I have learned to take their claims with a grain of salt. Whataburger is absolute garbage and all the transplants in the Denver foodies group love to fluff post oak… but in reality the only edible item on their menu is the pork belly

I'm going to spend some time in the kitchen today and make this. This man is fantastic, loads of great recipes.

On the last stage now...

They use it because it is the best they have. Hickory, pecan, and apple are all better smoking woods by a very large margin and if they were plentiful in Texas, Texans would agree.

To clarify, I was referring specifically to a restaurant here in Denver called post oak that I here a lot of Texan transplants claim is “the only good bbq joint here” which is a ludicrous claim because it’s not that great lol

I don’t have a problem with oak for smoking but agree definitely some better options out there

Ha ha, I totally misread that. I have to imagine in this day and age with so much BBQ info online, there could be great BBQ in any state.

No joke

Truthfully the best brisket I’ve ever had has been home smoked not from any bbq joint

There’s tons of bad bbq around for sure, but there’s also plenty of awesome spots as well

I can definitely smoke a better brisket than any I have had in Texas or in any restaurant, but to bring this drift back home, that’s because I have better smoking woods. :D

I saw something in the grocery store I'd never seen before: A glazed desert cake sitting right out on the checkout counter, right where you rest your checkbook! I thought someone had left it there by mistake! All by itself. I had to comment to the cashier if that was a new trick, which he did confirm. As if Americans aren't fat enough already, with enough heart disease and diabetes. Let's tempt them to make it even worse. UFB

It was Harris Teeter, btw.

I don’t have pics but I made Thai green curry the other night and it came out way better than expected. Garlic, ginger, lots of cilantro and thai basil in the food processor, curry powder, a can of coconut milk, mahi mahi, onions, zucchini, carrots, green beans. And jasmine rice on the side. For a good Thai curry you can’t overdo the vegetables, they still have to have a little crunch to them.
