No, it was their 60th anniversary gig, not their last one.

Well, not only that it's likely that they won't play again (Klaus Meine could barely move anymore, let alone sing the tunes as they should sound) and it's also rumored that this was it. And well, seriously, it better be it. Exit with a big bang instead of doing some unworthy stuff.

I still have a few sets to catch up on but was watching them as they got uploaded last night. I love Ozzy, dude just makes me happy seeing him.

Zakk's rig sounded like ass for Pantera's set. Jason Momosa dude going to the pit was pretty cool.

It's like the opposite of my issue with his tone when I saw him with Metallica when it was way too distorted and scooped for a stadium.

He sounded pretty great for Ozzy though and it was nice seeing Zakk standing in front of some Marshalls-

And Ozzy! That was the best I've heard his voice, live, for a long time! No autotune, not caked in delay and reverb, I'm glad he got to go out with a good set like that, even if he had to sit for it. He could have done it from the toilet and I would have been just as stoked.

I'm watching GnR's set now, hahaha soundboard mix ain't helping Axl (who sang a 3 hour show the night before) much here. The head voice/falsetto probably sounded ok in the stadium but hearing it right into the board it sounds like Towley from South Park.
:rofl

I think it might have been Mark Morton in LoG who was out of tune. I know that dude uses a similar setup to Petrucci for monitoring with a 2x12 Mesa blaring at his face, when he first walks out you can hear the uncontrollable feedback as he walks up to the stage, I'm wondering if they killed the monitor and he couldn't hear himself at all after. Randy came out like a fucking beast, that guy is so consistent it's crazy.

Let's all hope this is the last time we see that little shit with the SG Custom on a stage ever again. Dude is like a gnat when it's hot enough that it'll stick to your face a second before flying off and repeating this action numerous times until you smack your own face hard enough you almost knock yourself out because you just want the thing gone.

Vernon Reid....eh....probably could have done without him and sounded much cleaner. Fortunately, Nuno tore that shit up! Also, anyone note the Nuno-branded N4?

I think Washburn is already making these out of the Cort factory so they're really just a middle-man at this point, the guitar design minus the Stephens neck joint is all Nuno so he can take it wherever he wants. I wasn't aware of that until recently, but apparently the sig is based off a partscaster he threw together back in the 80's that Washburn begrudgingly copied for him.

Overall I have few gripes about it. I think there were some missed opportunities in some of the lineups but it was probably a bitch to organize everyone. Would have been cool to see Mike Bordin and Trujillo play a tune with Ozzy. Brann from Mastodon can do an outstanding Ozzy impression, shoulda had him doing vocals on a few more tunes! And it really would have been appreciated to see Jake do a song with Ozzy, but I'm happy he was there at all, even if the performance wasn't so hot. Something had to have occurred behind the scenes for him to agree to that show and I hope he's gotten some closure on that chapter of his life now.

LoG dropped an official cover of COTG yesterday and it was up for 5 minutes on Meyal Hammer's associated article but then it got pulled. I bet the in tune version is great :satan

Zakk does a better Randy than his Dime.
Maybe it's the gear or the tuning.
He just has more Randyisms in his playing naturally, and obviously he was heavily influenced by him. Dime's technique is a bit out of Zakk's comfort zone, but he still manages well. But that tone in Pantera's set... :sofa

Nice breakdown. Pretty much echoed my thoughts to a T. I got moist in the eyes watching Ozzy. He did sound
great. He also got choked up and I thought he sounded even better. So human.

What a fucking epic tribute to a legend. Love that people buried their beef for this and looked at the
bigger picture. A lesson for us all. :chef

Oh, one more thing. Bill Mother-Fucking Ward!!! :headbang

:rofl

Not a fan of Andrew Watt, eh?? :rofl

One thing I noticed is that there were a shit ton of young people in the crowd. This was not a
celebration for Boomers. Black Sabbath and Ozzy are both timeless and will outlast a shit-ton
of "new" bands that will be forgotten in a few years time.

Why is it wrong to celebrate that? We should all be thrilled that this is something that our
collective culture as given us, and not cast aspersions on people who are old..... cause guess
what we are all headed there whether we like it or not. :rollsafe

Bunch of young people eating onion sandwiches. It was nice to see some emotion being spent on something so classic :love
