Eew. Tone King. How about a Tone King Gremlin?
I have never found switchable power output to be anything like moving down to an actual 5-12 watt 1 or two small bottle amp. At all.Grab a Mesa with switchable power options and then you can go up or down as needed. Geet a 5watter
and you are locked into that never enough headroom reality.![]()

The 8” speaker is the problem, not the 5 watts.Oh man, just joking around, jd. Not meant to be taken seriously..... let alone literally.
I genuinely do think tiny (5w and less) amps tend to have a short shelf life.... both for me and others who
I have known who have purchased them.
In theory, great. Fill a niche. But if someone already has a 15w option that seems to get more use even
in home settings than a 5w amp with an 8" speaker.![]()
For a few days I had my hands on … I don’t remember the name of it, 100 watt head; plexi dirt channel; twin reverb clean channel. Dirty channe was great; clean channel pretty lifeless.I had the tiny 3rd Power Vox thingy a few years ago. Trying to remember what it was called.......
..... ???
It was half of the British Dream in a single channel offering.
I liked my Mesa TA-30 better.... so I guess boutique is not always best. Or I am lowbrow.![]()
Eew. Tone King.
I had a falcon grande, demos of which I looooved. Was REALLY stiff. Maybe the solid state rectifier? But I think it was just the overall amp design. Also, the ‘verb was unusable for anything but super ambient stuff. - it was like the dwell was internally cranked such that it always had an extremely long tail no matter where you had the mix.I’ve been demoing the TK Imperial plug-in (I’m on-again-off-again in the market for a clean combo) and I gotta say I’m not digging it, but it may just be the plugin because the quality demos I’ve heard online sound better than what I’m coaxing out it. (Maybe its been Neural’dTM)

Is it me or has 3rd Power gone through so many different amp models?

And as much as I try, I can't forget/foregive the triangle cabs...Is it me or has 3rd Power gone through so many different amp models?
