I've only seen them in the backline on some of the mesa videos. I think there was one at NAMM. I was trying to talk a MF rep into giving me a deal on a rectifier 2x12 cab the other day and he mentioned that they'd had a few of the IIC++ float through there. I didn't ask. They must be out there somewhere.

If you have a Mark III you can ask Mesa if they still do a ++ mod on them. I was considering sending mine in for a re-cap and refresh and a buddy of mine who did told me they gave him that as an option on his.

My III is already + modded, and then I have the modded Studio Preamp and 2:90 as well. The only additional Mark amp I might consider one day is the Mark V or VII, as there are some scenarios where the flexibility of those might semi-offset the loss of openness and dynamics I get from my III or studio pre setup.

I've got another thread where I'm searching for an amp, the Mark V 35 has caught my eye (today lol) - does the clean channel stay clean at band volumes? How's the effects loop?

I have the 35, I’m not in a band but the clean channel is pristine 🔥 I’m not an expert on FX loops but “it works?” and isn’t noisy lol

I feel like the crunch channel with an OD can get me very close to Marshall tones, I was close enough to Sweet Child of Mine using my neck pickup earlier that I was satisfied - but throw it to the bridge pickup and it's in Slayer/90s death metal territory

Spent some time messing with tubes on my Mark V 90.

I had been running SED =C= 6L6GC with TAD 6L6GC-STR in the outer sockets.

I decided to give the TAD Redbase 6L6GCM-STR a try. It sounds much closer to the SED, but has more midrange emphasis. I ended up putting it in the outer sockets and it is a good pairing with the SED for 90W mode. Less aggressive than the 6L6GC-STR but thicker sounding.

I also tried a NOS Philips 12AT7 in V4. This only affects ch3 and seems to give it more clarity by having less gain in the 2nd gain stage. Gain needed to be turned up a bit to compensate. I have to compare it more but it's tough when it takes a while for power tubes to cool so you can change the tube.
