Honestly, I like them all. But my least used ones are the Mark I and Extreme modes. Tweed on channel 1 is very cool, I wish that was footswitchable!

Even with my Mark III and Studio Pre/2:90 I still think about jumping on a used Mark V just because it overcomes so many limitations from the earlier Mark series with the independent channels and everything.

Truly a great amp and a modern classic.

I have the 35 watt head and I still have the 90 head in my GAS list lol. I know it won’t be satisfied til I have it.

I 100% agree with your Metallica comparison. MK IV mode for me is the best in terms of a heavy percussive metal tone. Xtreme can sound really good too but I found I like IV better in a mix 100%. IIC+ is my least used mode so far out of the three.

I honestly love this amp so much. I've had many amps over the years, and I've still got 8 or so. But this is definitely a top tier amp for me.

Sounded awesome in your video. I’ve really dug the IIC Synergy module, it’s just a pita to reconfigure so you kind of have to leave it one spot. But I love the cut and clarity under gain.

I’ve been itching for a Dual Rec but I think the only thing that ever gives me pause is a Mark V/VII.

Yeah I use those the most too. It's interesting how most people land on the same ones as their favorites.

Fat vs Tweed is more about "Do you want a big, fat Fender Twin style clean, or more of a mid-pushed Tweed edge of breakup sound?"

It often feels like "man, I wish that sound was an option on another channel so I could have both at the push of a button".

I was Crunch mode on ch2 for a long time, but lately im big into edgeing

Played my III live for the first time last night . Sounded great live

Made a dumb mistake loading in that took me a minute to figure out… had my footswitch and input jacks flipped… dangerous keeping them so close together

Tbh mark III kinda out performed the IV used the prior week live tone wise, chalking that up to the fact that I wasn’t able to get the masters up to optimal levels on the IV…. Holy shit This that amp is loud. My III is a 60 watter so was able to hit the the master sweet spot much easier


Have another gig this Thursday prolly gonna roll the III again. Just ran the set on my V… damn wish I could take this guy out to gifs again really need to get my intermittent relay issue taken care of. People can argue about the lead channel all they want vs older marks but there is no debate channel one and 2 stomp the predecessors on the V.

I love that the clean channel on the V is SO good that you can get away with doing full bore bridge pickup tones and still sound angelic and already be there at the bridge fkr high gain stuff (pickup switching at dramatic changes is def a battle for me so that’s real nice)

Definitely true though. I’ve managed to build up a rather excessive collection in recent years and I really do love them all. It’s nice to have variety options. Keeps things interesting

I have a vague “rule” that if I don’t at least occasionally gig it or at least use in the studio it probably doesn’t be to be around

Have an outdoor festival gig next month that I’m planning on bringing my bargain bin F100 combo to. That one definitely probably won’t come out a lot due to size/volume… but right time right place lol

aw hell, whatever works best! i tried that for a while myself and didnt get along with it- butni should give it a try again. its been a while and definitely figured the amp a lot since then.
