TGF Do Something Challenge Season 7 FINALS!

Since I'm new here, I don't want to presume what the protocol is. I could just post a couple of things completed in the last few weeks that you've no doubt already heard; but maybe it's too soon?

Since I'm new here, I don't want to presume what the protocol is. I could just post a couple of things completed in the last few weeks that you've no doubt already heard; but maybe it's too soon?

So the way we have been doing this (Do Something Challenge) is, it needs to be something done during the "Season". So the last season was 6 weeks and all items submitted were to be produced sometime during one of the weeks, and submitted that week it is produced/finalized. That does not mean that the whole kit and caboodle needed to be made during that week, but finalized or somehow produced during that week of the season. So for example, you have a piece that you have been producing for two weeks, but you just finished it, then you could submit it for the week during which it was finished. The point is to try and get people to "do something" and not rest on the laurels of what they have done before. I sometimes submit cover songs and they will be a version that I just did that day or at least during whatever week I am submitting in. Other times I will submit stuff I am releasing if that release falls within one of the weeks of the Season. Other times (like the electronica stuff I did last year) will be brand new stuff that I just made up and threw together (so other could throw up listening to it if they had subjected themselves to such torture)! Point is, the whole thing exists for motivating people to "do something" new and now (now being "during the challenge season") ;~))

We are currently on a pause and the next Season should begin in January (at least that is the unwritten, uncommitted plan so far) ;~)) The Season 7 where this is being posted is over, so no new submissions for that season or at this time.

I know your stuff is not seat of the pants the way many of us in this challenge roll for the submissions here, but this is not for the masterpieces, this is for the bits that just happen when we want to just "do something" in the music world rather than lull around with a bunch of gear!

I will ensure you are informed if and when Season 8 will start and I hope we get to hear some of your stuff, it is always of the highest quality ;~)) If you want to put anything up now of stuff you have done, you can do so in the "Members Clips and Video" section ;~))

Of course I posted a recent thing in the wrong section, but then realized my error and posted something else I just tweaked and remixed in the right section. Eventually I'll get it right.

The great thing is there seems to be a number of people doing music here. I love gear, and could talk about it for ages, but ultimately the music is the thing we all have in common, both as listeners and creators.

I should mention that I like the idea of the Do Something Challenge! Sometimes it's just great to cut loose, work out an idea quickly, and then stop and say, "Done," instead of beating it to death (the way I usually do!).

So the next season (Season 8 presumably) should start this month, but that is not guaranteed. I have not yet heard about who will be the MC for this event this season, but I am sure that info will be along sometime in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned!

Welcome to the forum! I literally joined this forum for this challenge as the other guitar/gear forums I am on don't seem to want to give much attention to music. And believe me, I get it that these are forums for gear and guitars, but the reason we have these items is to make music, so I would think more would be wanting to show what they do with the gear rather than just talk about it (and tons of stuff completely unrelated to music and/or gear). Even here, it is not like half the members are participating in this challenge or displaying their music. Looking forward to your contributions! If you are itching to share anything with the community before the challenge starts, you can post it in the "Member Clips, Videos and Projects" section ;~)) Otherwise, watch the "TGF Do Something Challenge" section for the start of Season 8 ;~))
