Test your ears! Helix or ???

If people are not interested in posts like this, they should just ignore them. If I attacked everyone's posts that don't interest me, I would just be wasting my life and needlessly spreading negativity. It was only my first post here. I hope people will be more friendly on other forums here. Otherwise I will go elsewhere where people are more polite.
It's not even like that..we actually share music with each other here and encourage it (check out the Do Something Challenge section if you haven't yet). No need for the schtick! Let's chat some gear.

I am not deceiving anyone. Other people like these tests. I am not forcing anyone to read my posts or listen to my music. This is a community. Not a dumping ground for your music.

Well usually you don’t even respond after the first link to your songs, so I actually think this is progress. Just be real man. You’re not fooling anyone that this is a helix vs tonex comparison and not an attempt to drive traffic to your songs, so why bother? You would get a much more positive response if you just said ‘hey check out my tunes and tell me what you think’ and you know it. Which to me means it’s about the clicks to you. You don’t really care if someone genuinely wants to hear your music, you just want the clicks. That maybe works the first time, and then you’re forever remembered as that guy. See, it even follows you to new forums.

Here, let me throw this guy further under the bus. Here's his post history from TOP. How many of his posts are "hey, btw here's a link to my new song!" and how many are actually discussing anything? It's like 95% song links, 4.5% "Hey thanks for checking my music" and 0.5% any other posts.

It's the bad faith that I hate. I get that getting your music out there can be challenging when you're competing with millions of other artists, but if you need to promote it on false premises like "check out this comparison which is actually just one of my songs" then I'm going to call you out on it. When you keep doing that same shit over and over...it's not an accident.

100%
I get mildly annoyed every time he posts at TOP.

In a way, I think it's sad someone has to do this in order to have their music listened to.

Folk are used to the fact that it's the gear stuff that gets views and attention, not their music, unless they are well established artists.

I would like to break that cycle, for my own brain, and listen to your music.

But I also agree with people who don't like being tricked into it. I think it's great when humans want to share their music, and I'm sure many others feel the same way, but the trickery is counter productive.

So just share your music and be honest about your intent :)

You all are entitled to your opinion, but there are loads of people on youtube posting videos with comparisions of various amp modelers; that has taken place for years too. Do you attack them too? I don't see much difference. I state up front "test your ears". If you don't want to test your ears, just ignore it. Make your life simple. Don't let it bother you. There are more serious issues in the world to get riled up about.

See, regardless of you kinda "spamming" forums (it's not exactly spamming IMO, still not what's welcomed in most places), these are no comparisons. It'd be a comparison if you actually compared the same part played through different modelers. This is what those loads of YTers are actually doing, you're not.
"Please compare this super clean strummed rhythm guitar with the mega distorted riff and tell me whether you can tell the modeler and which one you prefer!" - you can hopefully detect the flaws in that by yourself, can't you?

We might as well be talking if your music was particularly well produced with the guitars exposed quite a bit - but neither is the case. The guitars are almost getting lost and could as well be recorded with a Zoom 9000 from 1992. IOW, there's no particularly noteworthy guitar sound quality to be found in any of your musings. Fwiw, I'm not even saying they're particularly bad or useless - but guitars with some kinda weird EQing and loads of FX buried in a mix simply don't work in any comparative context.

As a result of all of that, what you're posting here simply can't serve as any kind of an even remotely meaningful "comparison". Which leaves us with 2 options:
1) You don't realize any of that. Which would be kind of a pity. But then, you could possibly learn something from some of the fine folks in this forum (maybe about how to come up with great guitar tones for a start).
2) You only want to pitch your music. Which could even be fine, but in that case, don't come along with false premises.

@aaron aardvark it's ok. You haven't killed anybody, but people is telling you that they know what you're actually doing and explaining that it's not a good move for you (never been).

Best thing you can do is accept that the trick didn't work and move on. Worst thing you can do is trying to keep fooling the people. It's over. No one is even asking you to admit your real intention of publicly apologize.

Didn't listen tbh, but it's the same old question all over again.

If done right, no one will be able to tell the difference, especially in a mix and with post production.

We've crossed into the "no difference" realm years ago, that's for sure.

Wanna promote your band? That's fine, but you should rather go direct and post a dedicated thread in open discussion than try fishing for compliments in a tech-related section.

Cheers mate!

Getting defensive when called out for what you are doing is not a good look. Sascha already explained why what you are doing does not work for what you claim it represents.

I can watch e.g Sonic Drive Studios and he'll post a song, sure. But he will also show just the isolated guitars, show parts of the song through different pieces of gear etc. That's a comparison.

I think you do understand that difference, and thus are acting in bad faith. Had you just posted in the Members Clips section and engaged with the community by talking about the stuff we talk about here, then I would have no beef with you. But I've seen you do this over and over again on TGP over the years and it's always been a pile of bullshit engagement bait.
