TC Electronics Denmark Closed

This is sad news. Challenges faced “including the competitive nature of the audio technology."

Yeah, i imagine all production and R+D will move to Germany now.

Kinda sad to see the OG TC Electronics go this way thou.

It’s Behringer. That means reverse engineering successful products from competitors then cloning them for dirt cheap in China. All TC Electronic is to them is a brand that has some name value that they will milk dry then quietly retire.

Yep. Everyone was let go back in November, from what I've heard. Seriously not cool. I've got a mate who joined the big B. Didn't stay 6 months. Went to another company.

It's ok though cause all Behringer are doing is bringing affordable gear to the masses.
:puppet

Who needs gear that sounds good and is built properly anyway? That's just dull. Isn't it better when you can get a pedal for 50p and then repeat the classic behringer talking points like "ooh it only cost 50p and it's got a metal enclosure".

Ah, you saw *that* interview by Sweetwater, too? 😅

All that praise and I wondered "Who'll ask about all the cloning of current stuff?". Spoiler: Nobody did. All's just peacejoyeggcake. Bah.

I don't know what I can say aboit Behringer. On one hand they put out great stuff like the X-series mixers. And then they still are a mostly cloning, china-manufacturimg business.

That's what people tell themselves to justify creating demand for cheap Chinese copies of products that other companies invested time and money creating initially. Eventually, though, the innovators lose enough money to the clones that they stop creating new stuff. Then we have nothing new and innovative to get pumped up about.

Genuinely no idea which interview you're talking about. I just posted the most common thing I've seen people saying about behringers recent tat pedal releases.

Sweetwater released an interview today/yesterday with Uli Behringer which was 30ish minutes of "So amazing, that you bring affordable stuff to the masses, yadda yadda".

It was interesting, but with news like these in mind there's always a sour burp after each bite.

It's all bullshit. Behringer brings reverse-engineered cheap copies to market, which undercuts the people that originally created the copied gear. Joyo did the same crap to Tech 21, but got a pass because their copies of the character series pedals were cheap. That cut deeply into Tech 21 sales, which hurt their bottom line and has undoubtably slowed down their work in creating new stuff.

☝️☝️☝️ This. Their original stuff is surprisingly good for the price; i rock an UMC202HD which i bought for ~$80 back in 2020, and still dances around interfaces twice that price.

Their "let's clone products and not even be subtle about it" part of their business, thou...

One of Behringer's most popular pedals is still the TM300 - a $25 ripoff of Tech21's GT2.
