So I have decided to take my recording solution back to what I am comfortable with and know.

I have decided to use a digital multi track, instead of a DAW for reasons I care not to expand on.
I wanted outboard ...and will do more outboard with this.....and I need mics and all that yet.

I just feel that for me, this is all I need and want. Period.

Do any of you have any experience with these....any tricks and tips....and considerations before purchasing?

Please, let's refrain from any DAW vs. workstation quibbling, as I have moved beyond that.🤷🏻‍♂️

Thanks in advance for any info,

:beer

There is something about this type of recording that is good for me. It is more fun....more tactile. This is MY way.....I may even buy an actual tape machine and mixer in the future. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Mine held it's value.

I was actually surprised I got almost what I originally paid for it.. but I had the box, original packing foam wedges, manual & power supply.
I dumped it because I was infatuated with adat....and the incoming digital wave.....and never saw the resurgence :facepalm

It was a pawn shop.....I had a car in impound.....I had more pressing needs than an old 8 track that no one knew how to use..... well....now I want one again... thus.

Probably gonna build a 500 series outboard rig too.....along with a regular rack.....shit is going to get stupid over the next couple years. 🤣

The band I was in during the late 80's/early 90's needed one to get our songs played on teh local radio station.

The station manager insisted on us giving them a DAT tape to even get played on air.

:farley
I had no clue what I was doing ....but everyone talked incessantly about them ....and protools....
Everyone dumped their shit ....market was flooded.....and everyone was bitchIng because the learning curve.

I was very close to moving to Arizona and going to recording school.... almost went to Chillicothe too....but just gave it all up for no reason.....and worked in live sound for a bit.

Now I just want to record covers where I play all the parts....and then do some soundtrack/ambient/dialogue recording as well....so with hobbies merging....I'm at this point now.
