Microdelays are used to create a Haas-like effect for creating a wider stereo spread. It thickens the signal somewhat and can impact high frequency coloration. It is definitely not a deal breaker and clearly some of these things might even be desireable but its also not the pure guitar signal and it isn't the same as two identical signals being sent out simultaneously with zero delay.
