Strat players. Floating or decked?

How do you have your strat trem setup? Floating or decked? I've always floated mine but think I'm going to try something new.

Anybody switched and noticed much difference?

It's like errything.. you give up something to get something.

Floating tremolo is so fuckin' cool, but you can't do unison bends and the tuning stability is a little bit more of an issue.

I prefer the bridge decked/blocked because it enhances the tone and sustain a tiny bit.

For how infrequently I break strings it's not something I worry about tbh. I've always got a second guitar at rehearsals and gigs anyway.

He said "tiny bit" which I think is accurate. It's pretty minimal and there are so many other factors, I wouldn't worry about that.

It takes a couple minutes. I pop out one spring and loosen the locking nut on the tremol-no, then back off (or just remove the stop).

These days I just keep another guitar setup with a floating tremolo.

When people show up without calling first, I get that one down and play Riviera Paradise until they decide to leave.

If I'm honest I might also be slightly apprehensive about messing up my setup for no reason.

I always thought they were designed to switch from floating and locked off in between songs so assumed it would be quicker than that. I'd rather have a second guitar than have to switch like that too.

I have wanted a hardtail Strat since I first started playing. I have no good excuse for the fact that I have never bought one, despite all the other crap that has come and gone over the years.

I played a floating Floyd Rose for so damn long that I got used to it, and preferred it.

My prs was my main guitar for 20 years so when I got my strat I set it up floating too just because I was used to it trems set that way. The tuning stability on my strat is rock solid no matter how much abuse the trem gets so I'm nervous about dicking about with it but am wondering about how it would sound on the body.

Mostly curiosity and boredom I think.

Floating for me, because otherwise why bother having a strat instead of a tele ?
