STERLING CUTLASS CT50

I have been eyeing one for a bit because I miss having that single coil sound especially in the neck position and only guitar I have is my kiesel zeus which I love and has been my main guitar for like 15 months, and I could do some EQ magic and get it in that single coil like ballpark but it's never the same much like coil splitting/tapping and I don't care what anyone says, those do not sound the same as a real single coil to me!

Anyone familiar with the Sterling Cutlass CT50 and like it, love it, hate it? Seems pretty nice specs for the money and I love the small headstock on sterling and ernie ball guitars.

Price is $499 brand new but many places are blowing them out lower too and of course can get a used one for cheaper too.

Sterling guitars have typically received more criticism as compared to other import offerings so far.
Not sure about the latest ones.

I tried an Axis (AX) and it was alright, with a dry fretboard probably because nobody was playing it at the store much.

I’d buy a wolfgang entry level axis instead of the Sterling because they always play and feel great.

I haven’t tried this exact one, but every Sterling I’ve picked up has been pretty bad. The basses are decent, but the guitars not so much…

I think it’s unfortunate that EBMM haven’t introduced some mid-level product lines. I guess they’re worried about hurting sales?
Totally agree. Most of them are complete dogs, that I've played. Some can be decent. You really cannot order them sight unseen, IMO.

Sterling by Music Man has nothing to and has no relationship with Music Man.
They only make licenced product.
Sterling Ball himself stated that a few times in the Music Man forum.
But yes the name Sterling by Music Man is confusing.

The licensing arrangement is a relationship between the two companies. The fact that “by Music Man” is in the name is a relationship between them.
