Sorry for the dumb up front, Uberkab rewire to 8ohm or leave alone?

I am looking at an Ubercab but of course it's 16ohm and the Mark V has no 16ohm out, will it sound bad enough to care? Worth or even possible to rewire it to 8ohm?

Mark V should happily run it from the 8 ohm out, but this will cause an impedance mismatch so it might lose a bit of power and feel a bit softer.

16 ohm 4x12 assumes that it is wired in series-parallel with 4x 16 ohm speakers.

This can be rewired in parallel for 4 ohms, so you could use the Mark V 4 ohm output.

I run my Mark V from the 8 ohm output into my 16 ohm Egnater cab all the time. You'll be fine.

It'll sound just fine and no you can't rewire to 8Ω - Boogie's are run like this all the time.

But if advice from strangers on the internet is not quite enough, Mesa acknowledge it's a non-issue In the manual.

I’ll add that I run my Mk V 8ohm into an Orange 16ohm cab and it works just fine

Yes, run the mismatch or rewire to 4 ohms all in parallel. Running a mismatch WILL impact power, breakup and tone a bit, but not necessarily in a bad way, so try it out and see what you like.

Not something I've noticed at all. It sounds just as good using 8ohm>16ohm, as 16ohm>16ohm.

Another solution would be to get another 16 ohm Uberkab and run them both! Ok, I’ll just slither off into obscurity now.

I have run my Stiletto, Triple Crown, and Mark V into 16 ohm Marshall 4x12s plenty of times with no issues (other than getting the stink eye from my neighbors).

All of my cabs are 16 ohm and they sound great with any Mesa I've owned.
