Is Metalcore 0-8-5?
The 0-3-5 thing is pretty much the first stop for the people who got into guitar around the time drop tunings and/or nu-metal was getting popular. If you got every guitarist who started playing in that era together and had them play the first riff they ever wrote, I'd bet 95% of them will start with 0-3-5 in one way or another. I think the first riff I even wrote was an 0-3-5 riff.
So, so, so many nu-metal riffs either start with or have a variation of 0-3-5 that it's deserving of it's meme status.
My bands two biggest “crowd pleasers” have power chord “choruses” that go 5-1 and 5-3-1![]()
