Snow Day!!

Of course then, moto would probably be my daily again.
How bout it!

I got over 20 years on my last truck, but the bed rails were starting to go. And over the rear wheels, and even under the doors. It was bad. But I never had to get it reinspected, so in MD, as long as you always keep your tags renewed, it can rot away underneath you, and you can still keep driving it! :rofl

But I still got 5 grand for it, cuz the guy just wanted the powertrain. So, win/win. But I was religious about car washes after any snows. Fuckin HATE salt! But at least it doesn't look all dirty. I've been in PA where they use something black, and the roads look terrible.

I just dug out, and measured in a couple spots, and it was between 10 and 12" (it's already melted a couple in this pic.)

I finally sold off my red rocket!
2004 GMC Sierra 1500.

The sides of the bed were so bad they were waving at me going down the road.
And that was "newer" steel as I had been t-boned on the driver side by an elderly woman.
Rockers had both been replaced and were gone again, those replacements never last though.
Bumpers rotted, replaced.
Had to have rear leaf spring shackles replaced and new steel welded in prior because that was gone as well.
Frame was looking spotty and thin in places.
Rear window leaking pretty bad on the passenger side.
Tailgate didn't function anymore.
Heat didnt function. Replaced everything but the heater core, had enough.
She was a mess looks and inspection wise (NY inspects every single year) but mechanically great. I don't do a lot of miles, she had less than 140,000 miles when I sold her off...

I miss having it though.
I don't care for power windows and locks.
Great dump runner and it was my plow truck.

New plow to replace what I sold ran me $7400 installed...

Snowed all day during work so… when one get home and realize more work is needed…

So that’s 20 centimeters in a night and day….
I had to shuffle this morning the stairs down to our basement (wich is our entrance) was full of snow. Kinda hope it stays cold though, because everything gets brighter in the dark.

I’m def going snowboarding tomorrow after works!!!! If it has to be like this, I fucking deserve some activity out it other than shuffling my way in and out of the damn house!

Ok that's a lot of fuckin snow!
It'll be gone by the weekend.

Do they even have Snowplows in Maryland?? :idk
Oh hell yeah! They're out right now pushing that final 3" off the shoulders.

And half the rednecks with a 4wd truck buy a $7000 snowplow, and get a few parking lot contracts, then end up selling it in a few years cuz we don't get enough snow for it to pay for itself. :facepalm

The other half, like me, just run up and down my lane a few times, and call it good enough.:beer

I've always been curious how you price plowing jobs, if you did that sort of thing. Like, is it a flat subscription kind of price, and you win some and lose some? Or some other arrangement?

We got about 3cms of snow yesterday and everyone lost their minds. Listening to people talking you'd think we'd had 3 feet and they all "gotta get the bread and milk"

Thought I had a pic of truck with plow?

Couple years ago that plow cost me $7400 installed.
I only plow my property.
I may have a couple more lineal feet than the average homeowner?
Used it four times and twice I didn’t really need to, just didn’t like coughing up the money and not using!

Ive never plowed for money.
I’ve helped friends out here and there, but only time I was paid to plow was years ago running maintenance in Geneva, NY for a resort. Needed someone with experience to plow around expensive vehicles from out of town. Not to mention the two wealthy private colleges in town…

Here it is both. My mom pays $350 per season now. It was $300 last winter.

He's plowed 4 times so far. 10-12 plows is about the break even point. Less
and the contractor makes more. More and the homeowner comes out ahead.

Here drive is about 1/4 mile long, too.

I had an old Wheel Horse back in the late 1990s and early 2000s that I used to
plow several drives with. I'd get $15-$20 per drive depending on length. Now
it is $25-$40 per drive depending on length. :idk

I could get back into it (have a Kubota to use now) but it is not worth it. Have to
haul it on a trailer. Gas hauling it. Diesel using it. Less snow than we used to get.
Maintenance. Wear and tear. Blech! Too many ways to end up losing money (or
spending more than you make!) for me to bother with it now.

Hold on, are you saying it's a typical thing to apply for some private snowplowing jobs?

There are entire businesses here that do that kind of work. They'll landscape and
do lawn maintenance and construction in the Summer months and then snow
removal and plowing in the Winter months.

Nice pic! :beer
