I play metal (ie,lamb of God, Chimaira) want to join/start a band. Do you think a single Peavey 6505+112 60 watt combo on an amp stand will do the trick or do you think I will need a 112 extension cab? I was also thinking about getting a second 6505 combo because there are a few in my area for sale and I could use it as a cab and a back up amp. I cannot fit a 412 cab in my vehicle and I feel the 6505 120 watt head is overkill for a small time metal band.

Would love to hear your thoughts

kinda depends on the size of shows youre playing and how much PA support you get. most sound guys can get the combo where it needs to be without much volume. but if you dont have one a 112 to generate much push can be a little challenging.

a decent 112 combo and closed 112 cab under it can be a great small rig. ive been using that last... gad.. almost twenty years, but i dont play metal.

itd definitely do something for volume and dispersion, and likely low end depending on what cab.

you could always start without it and see where youre at. its always harder to unspend money than not to spend it in the first place
