Side dots mainly. I guess it depends on how or what I'm playing.What do you use?
I never look at the side dots lol

until I was showing a former guitar player in my band how to play some stuff when I had my JEM on, he kept getting confused where I was at because the vine inlay and asked how I know where I am.
I have that same problem with my Solars. Trying to show my bandmates riffs and all they see is empty frets and the "Galorpamarph" 12th fret inlay.Side dots. It never even dawned on me that people use the fret markers until I was showing a former guitar player in my band how to play some stuff when I had my JEM on, he kept getting confused where I was at because the vine inlay and asked how I know where I am. I never even look at the fingerboard when I’m playing, not at an angle where I’d be able to see the inlays anyway.
Either is great it’s only a problem if you have this;
