Based on that, I suspect you'll be a great source of information and inspiration as I wander the fuzzy path.

Always good to share what we've learned

Yes, I included the tester below as part of my "modern retooling" purchase a few days ago.Just a few bits.![]()
Do you have anything which can measure the hfe of those transistors? I'd you don't then grab one of these.

You'll find it under different brand names on amazon but the model number is T7 or TC7. It'll measure hfe and tell you the pinout of your transistors, if you get some germanium it will also measure the leakage. They're less than £20 in the UK so should be similar in $.
If you want something a bit higher up the food chain that's better built the Peak Atlas Dca55 or DCA75 are the ones to get. The cheapo one listed above though will be fine if you're only going to build a few pedals.

I believe it cost $25 (after bundle discount). It is supposed to arrive today along with my new MM/oscilloscope and variable power supplies.
I believe I read a similar recommendation from you in the Fuzz Face Explorer Board thread that informed my retooling selections. So the credit goes to you anyway.Sorry I missed that. I've not used that one but they all run the same software. It looks a lot less like a fisher price toy than the one I listed though![]()
And it matches my Oscilloscope/MM.It looks a lot less like a fisher price toy than the one I listed though![]()
I have another shelf with multiple Audrino boards, LCD displays, small OLED displays, a 2.8" TFT touchscreen, a handful of 16 channel I/O multiplexer boards, some micro servo motors, and a "starter pack" (pictured below) that includes 37 sensor modules for Audrino projects.

Let the fun begin!![]()
I paid $90 for the o-scope/DMM/signal generator combo. It's not the greatest scope, but it's more than adequate for my needs.I keep meaning to buy an oscilloscope. There's a few pedals which I tune by ear which would be a lot quicker with an oscilloscope instead.
It's so tiny, about the size of a deck of cards. Same with the 30V power supply below which is just as small.FNIRSI LCR-P1 Transistor Tester, Mosfet Transistor Capacitor Tester, SMD Electronic Component Tester, Diode Triode Zener Diode Resistance Inductance Battery Test LCR Meter MOS PNP NPN ESR Meter
