Show Your Pedal Builds

Self adhesive Silver foil decal paper under epoxy resin. I use powder coated enclosures and just cover the tops in resin to protect the decals. You get a much higher gloss than lacquer will give you. Looks like glass under daylight.

The results look spectacular. And that sounds very durable too . I look forward to seeing the finished products.

It’s got the foil.

Thanks. I haven't found anything that looks as good or is as hard wearing as epoxy for finishing small batches of diy pedals.

I've got pedals from 8 years ago which look brand new whereas a few pedals I still use from when I used to clearcoat are all scratched and chipped.

They do look great. How do you keep the resin from dripping around the bottom during application?

I do have some epoxy for doing this but I’ve just not figured out how to not make a total mess. Moving forward, I’m really liking the polished and engraved bare aluminum.

You basically need to be careful about how much you pour and clear up any drips/runs with paper towels and methylated spirits.

It takes about two hrs from pouring to cure to the point where it won't run anymore so that's how long you have to keep an eye on it. I then leave them for a few days to fully harden before drilling.

The first time I did it I poured way too much and made an absolute mess and had epoxy running off the sides for ages.

I'll post some pics of the process after I've finished them. It's pretty easy.

Do you polish the enclosure yourself? I've done some etching but not engraving. How does that work? Are you using a laser?
