Shootout of 35 guitar speakers...

Very interesting.

I much preferred the Chinese V30 over the UK one. The Chinese one has a way stronger upper mids, which comes through as much more clarity. They both sound similar, but the UK one sounds like it has a blanket over the high end. Interesting for sure because the main complaint of people I've heard of Chinese V30s is that they are too bright - the brightness here translates really well IMO.

Of the other Celestions - I liked the Greenback the most. I've mostly avoided these because of their low power handling, but maybe I need to try them again. The G12H Anniversary was close as well, but I liked the more crunchy upper mids on the GB.

Veteran 30 sounds great - a little less low/low-mid content than the V30, but that's probably preferable in a more dense mix. Really liked the Invader HV as well, it might've been my #2 speaker of the bunch. Now I want one!

The Amperian speakers were new to me, never heard of them but they both sound great. Liked the Revolution 65 the most!

Really surprised by the Karnivore - I've listened to a lot of speaker shootouts with it lately and it's about a 50/50 chance whether I'll like it or not, but I think this was my favorite speaker. It doesn't cut like the V30 or Invader, but it sounds absolutely massive. It does seem to cut into the bass territory a bit, as I found it harder to hear the individual bass notes with it - but it fills out really well and it sounded HUGE in the isolated tracks. Other notable Eminence speakers for me: Swamp Thang and Texas Heat - both great, I had a cab with this mix years ago and liked it but Eminence speakers always have a weird midrange in the room that I can't get over... Also - I thought the Legend sounded pretty similar to the Karnivore, it just has a more congested midrange - I ran a 2x12 with these in it with my 5150 for like 10 years and loved that sound, then one day I plugged it in and couldn't stand it :rofl

Did not like any of the Fane speakers. Yuck. The Jensen was okay, nothing crazy but it was usable.

The EVM sounds so boring. They are a great speaker to mix though, but the WGS-12L killed it if you're wanting a single-speaker solution.

Also: Someone was trying to fight me the other day that the V-Type is a cheap speaker and sounds similar to a 70/80. It sounds awesome here and better than most of the "non-cheap" Celestions ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
