is there mini amps (desktop mini…) that have power amp and built in but changeable speaker sim (can take IRs)? Preferably super desktop oriented.

It's not that mini, but see if you can find a Yamaha THR100HD for a reasonable price. It's a good sounding amp with a whole pile of quirks.

Otherwise you might be better off picking a digital modeler pedal like a Strymon Iridium etc and some compact poweramp.

This.

A friend and I gifted a used one to a mutual buddy last month, and upon hearing it for the first time, I was really surprised how good and "full" it sounded.

Lots of volume on tap for a desktop amp, and the sounds are pretty decent.

Killer little amp for playing at home, imho

Yeah for “mini” amps the ones I know of are the Revv G20 (and I think the D20) and the Mesa Badlander 25.

As time goes on more amp companies will build this tech in to stay relevant for sure, but those are the only mini amps I’m aware of with this functionality.

I immediately thought of & heard Layne Staley
right after reading “I Don’t Know Anything”
(Mad Season).
Unfortunately, alarm clock guitar amps & me..
We just don’t jive man..,

I’m world’s better off plugging into myself💯
(For herds of reasons).

On another note, man, the intro riff
& the main rifff of that song are great for warming up or for checking out amps with a Strat.
Rad way to go from F to G and there’s no pull off
inbetween, -it’s an open & closer.
Really great riff for the ring..
-no I don’t like McCready and honestly
would enjoy eating him for breakfast in front of SRV.👍
Bon’ Appetit!!

Yep, Revv D/G 20 was the first thing I thought of.

I've been curious about the Revv D20 for a while now. It looks awesome on paper. I like the idea of a single channel tube amp that's low wattage and has some cool bells and whistles.

I am so the opposite end of the spectrum from this line of thought it isn’t even funny. I’ve owned a bunch of the mini amps, and honestly EL84 amps just don’t have the meat and potatoes that the big bottle amps have.

I can tell you I’m in the dental chair six shots to the mouth deep..the chair…
-the f’n G chord & Greenbacks..my son learning his first drumbeat & synchronized fill..🤘🏻
Cheers dudes!!

I'm running my two amps in 0.5 watt mode with the master about 1/4 to 1/3 the way up. I'm not expecting much for meat and potatoes.
