Rumor mill: John Mayer plugin coming soon?

Highly recommend reapertips theme to take stock win95 graphics to something that looks like studio one

ā€œIs the theme free?
It can be free! You just need to enter $0 when prompted to set a price.ā€

also the dark theme by white tie is nice - https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=291724
and, if you want full 'dark mode' then go to preferences > general > advances tweaks > dark mode (only on mac, not windows yet, that's the only issue)

This is actually incorrect.

Logic adds extra latency, because any time you open it your ears have to travel down to your ass, crawl right up inside it, lick the back of your eyeballs, and then back again.

All the other DAW's just let your ears do their thing.

hahahaha

ah yes, aliarseing (aliasing)

I agree with Orv that this UI sucks:

Instead of a zoomed in view of the amp you get that - idk, lame.

I mean ... anyone with eyes can see that a whole series of terrible decisions led to these consequences.

Blerghhhh.

I like their amp modelling, and I like the QC, and I like the plugins I own well enough. But damnit they've lost me with the last couple of releases.

I’ve tried a couple of the plugins now, and I own Nolly. It’s maybe worth the half off Black Friday price. But I don’t think I’ll be getting any more of them. Not really better than Helix Native, Amplitube, or S-Gear.

There’s things I like about all of those plugins, but the NDSP plugins sound noticeably better to me across the board. Usually they’re nicer to use too. The others sound a bit more dated modelling wise, for want of a better description and often are more clunky to use
I’ve tried amplitube multiple times, I just don’t like it. HX Native is very good, and you can likely match any sound with enough patience and know how, but NDSP plugins have always sounded great for whatever they were going for, out of the box

It's true that HXN and S-Gear are more dated, but they're also much more versatile than a single NDSP plugin is. Amplitube is both dated and modern, as it depends on which model you're talking about. And it's even more versatile. NDSP is fine, it's just a shit value for $150-$200.

Just FYI if anyone has a FB - the NDSP plugin marketplace is the way to go when there isn’t a sale. All those $150 plugins can be had between $70-$90 depending on the plugin

Knobcloud (SFW) is also great for buying 2nd hand licences

Knobcloud is a crazy name, and I'm not even English.

Also yes, S-Gear has always had that magic sauce to it. Crazy how long it has remained competitive in the landscape.
I like S-Gear but I prefer amp models that are 1:1 to HW rather than hybrid/unique amps. The ones in there are cool but not really amps I’d go for in real life. The FX are more serviceable than good IMO, and there’s not a ton. Add to that the UI is straight outta 2003 and has loads of little areas to click. It’s not really a slick thing to use in 2025.

For the amps I like, NDSP covers more ground. And the effects you do get are better IMO, plus they’re much nicer to use.

From all the amp sim devs I tried by now (and those are many - thx, 10/14d trial) NDSP has the best/slickest UI. I am a master in Helix-Fu, but the HX UI is ugly by todays standards. NDSP has that secret sauce of "it pleases the eye".

Should have bought a plugin this black friday, bc these 120+ prices are way too high for me. But I did not, as I was busy with work and did not know which one to buy for just some plain ass rock/metal. Soldano was very cool. Should have gotten that one.
