Ohhhhh, i gotcha. To be clear, I do not think it was a sinus infection, but rather a "sinus infection." Sort of like PR back in the day saying someone had "pneumonia," yet they really spent 4-8 weeks in a rehab facility.

Keith Olsen, JCM800 combo. I've been saying this for quite some time. Actually, since around the time the 30th anniversary (or whatever one it was) for NRFTW Guitar World article came out. He just fucking nicked it. All of it. Funny that he was like, "I made a list of things everyone else was doing. Harmonic minor, this that and the other, and crossed them off." Uh huh, suuuure.Man, I dove deep into Sykes playing this week. Listened to most of his work. And it
hit me like a ton of bricks one day that someone legendary stole a bunch of John's
tricks of the trade. Maybe all of them. Hell, right down to the flowing golden locks
and a Les Paul Custom.
Want to guess?
Super fast and wide vibrato.
Pinch harmonics galore. Borderline abusive.
Shreddy muted passages on a Les Paul
No. Not Al Di Meola. Some other guy from Joisey!
No guesses for you @TSJMajesty . Sorry.![]()
Fuck you, Sykes! How the hell do you play this on a damn Les Paul? I have played all of one Les Pauls in my life and it was a total let down, because the neck was like 3/4ths of a wooden bat. Plus the weight was a drag.

I am, and will never be, 1/128th of what Sykes was, BUT, for some odd reason, I can shred on my friend's Greco Sykes model, and I'm with you, I grew up on the small-necked super strat, so, I'm not quite sure why I can play the Sykes like I do:

Agreed 1000%Nice, dude. That said, trying to shred on a Les Paul is not for me. Besides having a heavy body, the necks on an LP are generally uncomfortable. I don't like thin necks (Ibanez, Jackson), but thick necks are a hassle in a different format.
