RIP John Sykes

I remember that interview where he announced a collab w/ Portnoy and Sheehan. That would've been epic!

He flaked out on them, repeatedly, so they got Kotzen and it became The Winery Dogs.

Word is there are tracks out there with Portnoy and Sheehan that have yet to
see the light of day. :idk

Yeah I really wonder what held him back. One single song since 2000.

Man, I was always rooting for him. I do think something about what
went down with Coverdale broke something inside of him. Kind of
Like Jake with Ozzy and then Ray Gillen. Just maybe makes you not
want to try so hard.Probably like having your soul robbed when that
happens.
:idk

I do hope something comes out from his vault. He was just too good not
to have done some great music in the past 24 years.

Huge, loss. I had no idea he had cancer.
I saw him with Whitesnake opening for Ratt. Hard to believe right? But Round and round was a massive MTV hit and Whitesnake had the mediocre success with 'Slide it in'

Fuck you, Sykes! How the hell do you play this on a damn Les Paul? I have played all of one Les Pauls in my life and it was a total let down, because the neck was like 3/4ths of a wooden bat. Plus the weight was a drag.

That they were both reclusive, got burned by the "best" in the Music Business, and decided
to drop out for a decade or 3 from making music.
Ah, I see what you mean.

If I remember correctly, Sykes had an injury when Vai took over in Whitesnake and he had a few bad feelings about it. I think that was probably Vai's peak performance on an album. Man, he ripped it on that one! Sykes clearly made Whitesnake what they were though. May he rest well.

It was Adrian Vandenberg who had the wrist injury. He was going to do the next Whitesnake album until said injury. Enter Steve Vai.

He played on the record, Vai and Vandenberg toured for Slip of the Tongue. Sykes was apparently booted for making comments about possibly touring without Coverdale due to a sinus infection that wouldn't go away.

Whitesnake without Coverdale would have been pretty good though.
