Oh well, ain't no skin off my back. If they're selling something I want, for a price I like, I don't care who owns them. If they don't got no deals that I like, it won't make no diffrence to me neither.

Will have to see how things work out overall. I've purchased a few things from Reverb and Etsy.

My gut says it may very well end up in dumpster fire scenario.

Multi-company consolidations work, until you have nothing left to consolidate and your business model still doesn't work. Pump up the value enough to sell before the big bottom out and crash.

I wonder what the sale price was, considering Etsy paid $275M six years ago.

Either way, hopefully things there improve from this.

For selling, it's Craigslist (with cash ad carry exchange at my local police station), trade in, or nothing for me. People are conditioned by "free shipping" to count shipping as part of the price. I can charge much less on a cash sale and come out ahead over packing and shipping (time, materials, and cost), Reverb fee, and PayPal fee. And the sale is completely over at that point. No surprise from PayPal months later. I will occasionally buy on Reverb, but usually from dealers who chose not to build their own commerce websites.

The current model for online buying and selling is not that old, and may not have staying power. I would not have advised Servco to make this deal.
