Great idea!heat with a soldering iron to soften any glue that might be in there.
Last resort removing the heads will help because he will be able to pull the back off and 3/4" of the screw will be sticking out. Then grab them with a set of vice grips and a breaker bar if necessary.
Sort of. The part of the head that gets rounded going in, doesn't affect the edges you need intact to get it out, if you only slightly fucked it up.
But I'm with you. If I start to fuck up a screw going in, I'll take it back out and use a new one. But I never use Phillips. Phillips are today's slotted screws. Star heads FTW.
Although hinge manufacturers haven't gotten the memo yet. Even expensive Baldwin still use Phillips.
Best practice in general- drill a pilot hole, and if it's a hardwood, use soap on the threads also.

Totally. I work on Decks and occasionally still find some old Philips being used and I cringe every time.
In all honesty, I would rather find Nails.
I don't think I have ever seen a Torx head on any Music Gear, though.![]()
Classic! I want that played on a Big Screen at my Funeral.
