Quad Cortex Mini

I used to be a total rotary sim junkie, and somehow I don't think I've ever even tried the one in the QC. If it sucks, I'm willing to bet there's a Univibe + addt'l modulation + reverb cocktail that'll sub in nicely.
Helix rotary options are an abomination. Boss rotary is great. FAS rotaries are spectacular. There's some room in the middle, hopefully.

I never used rotary until one day I saw a local band and the guitarist sounded so good, now it’s my favorite modulation effect.

Agreed on Helix, but I actually got the Vibe Rotary sounding pretty damn good with the mix down under 50%. Idk what they were thinking with the 122 and 145 though, those sound horrible.

Love Helix/Stadium, but low key facts. I'm only grateful I rarely have use for that effect.
A couple of different people "told me how to fix it" aka watch a Saddites video I am not going to watch or do some convoluted routing/chain placement but I'm just not gonna do that.

It's an effect that I shouldn't like given my tastes (modern high gain stuff and more metallic directions) but it is just a beautiful sound when done right. The FAS and Boss blocks are just drop in and go, too.

watch a Saddites video
Not worth it.

Im Not No Way GIF

Well, this was always my assumption with the HX rotaries: not so much that they sucked, as you had to know how to coax them into sounding right. I never could keep track of which were meant to be paired with speakers, and which were meant to be used alone, or where in the signal path and so on.

I never really checked out the FAS rotaries either. Oops. Agree the Boss stuff is generally great (and easy.)

I actually got hooked on rotary way back in my Flextone II/ POD 2.0 days, if you can believe that. Add a perhaps-embarrassing-in-hindsight quantity of reverb, and all is right with the world. :D

This is my 3rd time, it’s like going to an extremely professional show music wise and then he starts talking and you’re in a comedy club. Mikael knows how to make people love him, that’s for sure.

Opeth is my number 1, I’ve got that shit tattooed on me 🤣
Hoping that things align so we can go up and see them in Dalhalla in Sweden this summer. It’s supposedly acoustically similar to Pompeii and shit. With Opeth it will be so fucking good.

Other than playing "Black Hole Sun", I have F-all idea on when or where or how to use it, honestly. My tastes are like yours, but I can think of no iconic songs, artists that use them, etc. that I have to have in my repertoire.

It would make sense to have "organ"-y songs for the funk project I play with, I guess, but....we have an keyboard player that does that.

Ugh ok Rabea. He’s a mixed bag, I don’t follow him or even really like his music per se, but his synth video for the QC actually was good lol

Is there a running thread somewhere for "people's favorite QC captures"?
If not I was going to start something
No there isn’t! But I just had an idea that maybe a public Google Sheet or something would be a cool tracker for that? Idk. Instead of having to search through a thread
